I AM SO HAPPY TO BE HERE! (04/14/2014)

Hey everyone sorry i have 4 minutes to write today. oops!! but know that i am great! It has been a beautiful week here in Ecuador and i am so happy to be here. well, soooo many things have happened, but i guess ill just fill you in somnetime in the next year when i have time. haha :)
we found a bunch of new people to teach. they came and are coming out of the cuts! haha and we were able to give Bryan Yepez, a tour of the capilla. it was so great. he is so excited for his baptism. unfortunately, his date fell because he wasnt able to come to church yesterday, but its ok. i know that he is going to get baptized along with his sister Jennifer.

this week, my mind has exploded. I have been asking in my prayers for help opening my mind a little more to understand things better and see things differently and OMG. man. like i feel sooooooo happy. during and after my personal studies, i have just been completely overloaded with the Spirit. I feel that i have matured in my testimony so much and that im not ever like "omg what if...?" anymore. its like... yeah God has already told me so many times that this is His church, i understand that there is opposition in all things and that satan is always trying to break down the Saints of the Lord.  this Church is the Church iof Jesus Christ. If you want to have a greater hapiness in your life, i promise that you just have to pray about the church,. ask God if its true. Hes going to tell you. honestly. like im not lying and Godf will never lie.  this is the Church of Jesus Christ. We have a prophet called of God today asnd He is guided by the Lord to guide us here on the earth. life is beautful and i hope that you are all great! :)

Next Thing I Knew I Woke Up In The..Date: Mon, Apr 7, 2014 at 4:12 PM

Nah. we were just jumped by a turkey. it was very frightening, but we handled everything appropriately... we screamed, held each other, and my companion grabbed a large stick and hit the turkey. Handled like professionals, and then the next day, we did a service project and were almost jumped on by a sheep. I mean... I supposed that we were asking for it... butttttt.. hehehe and then my companion played with the pig and the chickens as I stood a safe distance away from those....nasty chickens. if y'all don't remember. I almost hate chickens. Really. don't. like. them. To eat sure, but to touch? NO. hahaha and soooooo it was a beautiful week!!! seriously soooo great!! :)
My companion and I are biffles, so that makes this whole experience the best. :) I love it because I learn so much from her and supposedly she learns from me, idk what she is learning, ha ha,  but she tells me that I'm great. but yeah she is the best. We laugh sooo much. It's so great! Laugh therapy. and we both have a deep love for bread...so we'll get fat together! :D  This week, we bought carioca, like foam guns and shot each other like at random moments. ha ha it was so funny.  I told her to wake me up in a fun way one morning and what did I get.... she comes and sat on my bed and was like awww  hey its time to get up , like all sweet, and I was like awww thanks, and then she left
and came back running and started smacking me with a caña.- a stalk of corn. lololol it was so funny, hahaha and then another day, she was like hey hermana, time to get up, and I was like aw thanks and then I was ATTACKED. ANNIHILATED BY A FOAM GUN. hahahahaha omg so funny.  Oh, one day she was like "y'all betta git yo butt outta dat bed!!" and started shooting the ceiling. hahahha ok no, that one didn't really happened but that is one of our jokes. Hahaha man, so many funny things that I wish I could tell you!  Oh my gosh I'm such a great English teacher that the other day someone asked my companion, who is from Mexico?...and if she spoke Spanish. LOLOLOL.   And lastly, we have had this same song stuck in our heads for a week. it's an efy song but it's super creepy, haha it's like "I'm watching you". good times.
Haha, one day we were accompanied by the mission leader or idk what its called in English, but the líder misional, and we were in a store and I was like "oh, do you guys want a lollipop?" and hes like nah, pero quieren un golpe? ( nah, but do you guys want a hit or like asking us basically if we want a punch) and we were like wut. noooooooo!! hahahahahaha and come to find out, Golpe is the name of the candy bar that he was talking about,  that was a super funny moment. lol, and then a little girl was like I need help with my homework, and we're like ok!! and she's like it's for catechism, and she's like question one... what is baptism? haha and we were like, ohhhh we can help with this!!! hahaha it was so great :O

Ugh, haha we were walking and came across this guy who is super evangelical, and he was just smashing us, I mean none of the things he was saying were true at all, but he just went off, and oh my gosh, guys you don't even know. God was like HOLDING ME BACK!!! My gears were grinding, but obvi I didn't want to contend or anything, so I just did the only reasonable thing I knew how to do, I screamed and pointed, and while he turned around we ran. Nah i didn't do that, but seriously. I just DID NOT feel the spirit in that moment.  When we shook his hand and left, i accidentally squeezed his hand really hard. whoops -_- ha ha and then after that we were rejected soo many times. It was so funny.  We were just so surprised at how rude some people can be. lol,  like people would close the door in our face while we were in mid sentence, stuff like that, lol. We were like hey! We're missionaries of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints and this guy was like "no no no no no, no me gusta, no me gusta" ( I don't like it) and my companion was like... gasp!? No le gusta aprender sobre Jesucristo?   ( gasp... you don't like to learn about Jesus Christ?!) and he was like uhhhh..... hahahahaha. I suppose we might have crossed the line with that one, but it was after we were rejected by everyone, we were like -_-  ah ha then we said a prayer and felt happy again :)

Well, this week has also been a week full of BEAUTIFUL THINGS!!!! One day, we were walking to find an investigator and outta nowhere we were just like HEY! to this guy who was walking by and then we invited him to be baptized (after teaching him a little duuhh) and he was like absolutely!! if this is Jesus Christs church, yes!! and we invited him to conference and he was soo excited.  Then we went to his house the next day, but he wasn't there... but his mom was there and she was like YES!!! and she was like, reserve seats for me at conference ! I want to come! and then.... the guy, his name is Bryan, HE CAME!!! he said it was so good!! I'm sooo excited! he loved it :)    Earlier that day, my compis asked me how I was doing and I of course was great, but I had just gotten word that my investigators got baptized!!! yaye!! that's awesome, but of course, like every single transfer, or emergency transfer, they got baptised days after I left. so i haven't been able to see my investigators get baptized yet. It has happened every single time that someone is going to get baptized.  Sooo duh I mean I was  little bummed, but overall so happy for them, and my compis was like, aw don't worry hermana, we're going to see Bryan get baptized this cambio, and I know it!! I'm stoked.  KNOW  that I am going to be able to see one of the people that I teach get baptized :) like Edwin got baptized last week, but he wasn't my investigator, he was my companions, equal, it was amazing. I know its all a test from God though :)
I know Bryan and his family are going to get baptized, they are so good :) and we found so many other people who are soooo ready for the gospel and have accepted to get baptized. Unfortunately , in my sector, I can only work with indigenous people, so we have had to pass the referrals to the other missionaries who work in the Spanish ward.     Equally, I'm so happy. I'm just happy to see these people, my friends, progress and want to know more about Jesus Christ and totally change their lives :) life's great :)  I love all these trials of faith because although they are hard, i have truly seen myself change so much.
I don't remember if it was this week or last week, but i had a really cool personal experience and was able to open up my heart and mind sooo much more and I truly feel my personal conversion growing SO much more everyday :) It's beautiful. I am able to appreciate things soooo much more:) like ESPECIALLY the Gospel. I am able to understand it in ways that I hadn't been able to before. :)  I LOVE IT!!! I seriously wish that everyone could feel this awesomeness :)
So, this probably hasn't been the best email in the world, but I'm sooo tired. and dying, so tired, and out of time; and I didn't write down much of what happened this week. We've been working rull hard dis week :) love it!!! and I can't think right now haha, sooo sorry, but I just want to thank y'all for the love and support that you send me. :) It makes me happy. I love hearing from my family and friends. I feel a lot better because now I'm not like dependent on what my emails say. I'm happy to be here and focusing on the work :)
The Church is true and I have no doubts about that. Serious. Conference was amazing and guys we have a prophet helping us know what God wants us to d. iz da bess. :)
Love Life!!!
Con amor,
Ñaña Tangedal
Me and my comp switched name tags and totes forgot haha and we moved tree trunks. It was tiring, but wonderful :)
My comp is so great at English that she can make grammar jokes now, I'm so proud of her!! hahaha  love you so many.
oops we switched this day too. haha but that was an accident.
send me some love

And then we saw the hash slinging slasher.....Date: Mon, Mar 24, 2014 at 3:56 PM

Nah I'm just kidding, but it's funny to see people walk around with machetes all the time. hahaha just needed a SPONGE BOB reference. can I get an amen!!??  ;)

All I can say is that,om OMG. the Lord KNOWS why He does EVERYTHING. And He HEARS our prayers!!! :) Seriously this week has been amazing full of miracles.
Monday, we had to rush home before day was over to help out with the relief society activity, and it was so much fun!!! hahahah there was no pioneer costumes just Renascence (misspelled I know) dresses, but we rented them anyways and mine was too small and I was like hulk busting out of that dress but omg it was so much fun. Hahaha we did a little drama and made fruit sculptures. then, we had a bomb noche de hogar with a member family :)
Well this week, we have been teaching family Torres Gonzales and they still have a baptismal date for the 29th. we are thinking that we are going to move it to next Saturday though, because they still need a few more things, but we are soooo happy for them.
Thursday, we had a capacitación de 9 hours. OMG. it was so long.... some sad things happened in the mission with some disobedient elders and 9 of them went home. It was sad, but hey, The Lord has given us commandments. not suggestions. :) and while that happened, something happened in Venezuela, and they had to take out 240 foreign missionaries from Venezuela and send them to the other missions here in the south American continent, so we received 7 new missionaries!!! that is awesome and it was cool because they are all such wonderful missionaries who are super aware of our responsibility como miembros de la church of Jesus Christ :)  and so that was a really uplifting conference that we had :)
Friday, we had our reunión de distrito, and we had a farewell for elder Lema, who is completing his mini mission. He is an elder who has some kind of slight social disorder, but he is the SWEEEEEEEETEST person you' ll ever meet. omg. it was such a pleasure having him in our district!!!  it was awesome, we bore our testimonies and also thanked him for being him, because really, he was such a great example to us all. :) it was such a wonderful meeting and the Spirit was so strong. :)
Saturday, Hermana Cajas y yo had a service project and invited all the missionaries in the zone to  help us. Yeah it was getting hard bringing cinder blocks to the third story of the house... just us two. hahaha so we all worked together and moved all the blocks and pikes of sand and gravel. The family was so thankful for our service. It was a family menos activo and they were just soooo surprised. suh I'm still sore, but it was sooo worth it, seeing the happiness on their faces :)
Sunday..... Sunday.... transfers!!! we received our new assignments Sunday, but before that, we went to church and it was great. I was feeling so great, but at the same time just kind of different, like... IDK I  knew that I was going to leave. Lol on the way to church , we saw one of our investigators coming up the hill and she was like go go!! I'm coming, and we were like what?=!?!?! she's coming all on her own!! and then she goes, yeah I'm going to that evangelical church over there... and then our hearts broke... ha ha and then we went down the hill..all sad, but then out of nowhere, we see a girl that we met on Thursday and she was like hey!!! I'm going to your church next Sunday!!! my friend wants to go and we both really want to learn more!!! and then oh man we were totally on a super high!! :D that was awesome. After church, we went to our mamita for lunch, our favorite family, Fam  Guajan Panama. It was so much fun, we took funny pictures and shared a really great message. and... we were all crying. The spirit was so strong and all the testimonies that were borne were so beautiful. :) I can't hold in my tears, I am a baby I know, and Hna Guajan told us that she prayed to know who was leaving, and she felt.. Hna Tangdal is leaving... and... ah I already felt that too. and.... after many tears, but tears of happiness... we received our assignments.
duh...
duh...
DUHHHHHH
Hna Cajas is staying in Carabuela and she is TRAINING!!! ah!! :D and Hna Tangedal is leaving. going to Otavalo and opening sector in Centenario 1 with Hna Irepan.  AHHHHHHHH!!!! I screamed. sooooooooo excited. hahahhah 1) HNA IREPAN!!! she is sooooo awesome I am soooooo happy!!!! she is from Mexico and we were friends before being comps, so we are really excited.  :)   and 2) opening sector ...again. hahahaha that makes 3 out of 4, but I guess the Lord trusts me. ... and... again... I leave right before my investigators get baptized.... hahaha but I'm just so happy that I get to be a part f this work and help my brothers and sisters hear about the Gospel.-
So today is Monday. we came to the terminal and said bye to my zone :((((( they're only like 15 minutes away, but seriously I was so close to all of them. I know that we are all going to see each other in the spirit world though and I know that they are going to continue to be the best missionaries that they can be :) so proud of them :)  and now, I am here in Otavalo with my beautiful new companion!!! I am going to miss Sister Cajas, but I know that we will all be reunited too soon and it will be the happiest experience ever! :D     Oh and our house was occupied by elders and its so nasty. We have to clean tonight. Elders, don't be so nasty. Clean the house. hahahaha

But, this week has been absolutely full of miracles. Full. Of. Miracles. Our toilet has been fixed, I killed another big nasty spider in my house before it killed us, I got up before the alarm clock sounded....etc..... lololol   but really, we have seen so much progress in the ward and our investigators. It was a hard week because we heard a lot of sad stuff about people not wanting to go to the church because it's a small community and everyone knows everything about everyone and they're like no you let THOSE people into your church!!??   Yeah it was sad, but I KNOW that we really were able to help the ward. I am so happy with the work that I was able to do there.  :) We were able to bring back some inactive members and gain the confidence of the members. It was a beautiful time being able to share my testimony and love with all my brothers and sisters there. I don't have my agenda to be more specific, but just know that this week has been sooooo beautiful.
And now, well I know that the Lord has a purpose for everything. God knows why I'm with my current companion, and I do too. I'm so excited to be able to help in any way , shape, and form here . :) I love life and I am sooooo grateful to have a God who loves me and has given me His son Jesus Christ as a Savior. Life is beautiful when we just open our eyes! :) Open your eyes. See the Good in the world. there is opposition in all things, but there is a God and He loves you. Just pray to Him Ask Him if He´s there, and I bet you my everything that He will give you and answer. I know that because I always ´pray for His help, and I ALWAYS see His hand in my life. I am so happy. :) The Church is true. I promise. Invite someone to Church this week :) Open your mouth and share the truth!!! :D share the love! because it's for every single one of God´s children. I'm so excited for conference!!!! :D

And Pappy!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! :DDDD I love you all!!! have a beautiful week!!!! Ill be praying for you!!
love,
Hna Tangedal

lolol zona Iimbabura!! hahaha next week, zona Otavalo Norte or Sur IDK. hahaha

WEEK OF MILAGROS! ( Mon, Mar 17, 2014 at 10:37 AM)

Seriously. Such a beautiful week :)
Well, to start off, Monday we had a family home evening with a member's family, familia Cachiguango, who brought 3 friends and they were all so interested in the gospel!!! The Spirit was sooo strong and open, one of the girls was just crying, She was so happy to hear of this message :) another one, we actually found out that he was baptized when he was 8!!! WUT!! ha ha, that  was an amazing night. We taught about the restoration and it was just so awesome. :)
 I love my mission.
Tuesday, we were walking to an appointment, but there was this house that had MY FAVORITE ROMANIAN HOUSE MUSIC playing on full blast, and I was completely distracted and was like I HAVE TO FIND OUT WHO IS LISTENING TO THIS MUSIC, so we contacted the house, not even caring that there was a big dog sitting at the door, and that's where we found GINA!!! OMG. She is 20 years old and amazing,. but it was sooooooo hard to talk to her while the music was playing because I was all calm on the outside, but on the inside I was dancing like a maniac, worse than at Marcy´s wedding. Ellen knows.  She has such good questions and is so excited about the Gospel too!! :D She seriously is asking all these questions and we're like.... omg this is amazing. we are so happy!!! she wasn't able to attend church yesterday because she was at a wedding, but this week we gone be all up on her!! ha ha

Wednesday... wellll Wednesday we were walking along the side of the freeway like everyone does here all calm and what not till I tripped on a rock. I played calm and all but it hurt..then I was like that's weird, my foot's all wet and i didn't even step in a puddle... so I looked at my foot and my big toe exploded, hahaha whoops. good thing we were on our way to a members house.  We arrived and I was just dance walking to somehow not scare the people of the trail of blood that I was leaving on the side of the freeway (Ha ha I don't know how dance running wouldn't attract attention...but I was losing blood. I wasn't thinking clearly ha ha) we got it all cleaned up and everybody was happy and comfortable :)

Thursday was AMAZING AGAIN. We found an investigator from last weeks English classes and we taught the restoration with him, honestly. this week has been FULLLL of miracles, he wants to follow Christ and be just like him, and he knows that though he can't be perfect here,  he wants to be the closest he can be and so he's like." I want to get closer to Christ and be like him and i need your help!" :) and dang the spirit was sooo strong in that lesson!! so happy :) then from there, we saw Gina and talked to her, and we all coo!!:) we have another appointment with her this week! :) Oh then we got home and as I was opening the door, I saw something crawl under the door. and.... I freaked out and was like omg what was that... i got it and looked for what that was... yeah. it was A FAT TARANTULA. . there are tarantulas, in my, house.  What's new. I LOVE MY MISSION, but today we had to fumigate, we had to, we can't risk this anymore hahhahahhah.

OMGGG Friday, so we had a cita (appointment) fall through and we tried contacting, but it just wasn't working for some reason,. and so I looked through my contacts list and decided hey lets call this lady, familia Torres Gonzales,- that we met while helping familia Quinchiguango with Englsh1- so we did and the signal didn't go through very well and it was all staticky.  Then, we contacted a bit and called again, and they were like COME OVER! and so we did and omg, I was like dying because where they live is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. its amazing because their house is so humble, just a box with pieces of wood to sit on and as a table, etc but the scenery was absolutely gorgeous! I was almost cryng it was that pretty, but pictures couldn't capture the beauty  :(   and they are a miracle family for us, they want to know all about Jesus Christ and have been prayng and CAME TO CHURCH AND STAYED ALL THREE HOURS!!! and they are sooo happy!!! OMG. if I had more time to write. but we taught them many wonderous things and then they offered us coffee and we were like....oooo.... and so impromptu taught the WOW too :)

Saturday, we had a service project in the morning. It was so funny! Never trust "aquisito nomas" (just right over here). it literally means, "just have to hike the mountain and cut through the jungle to get to the house, so that is what we did. We went "allisito nomas" and had literally hiked this fatty mountain, and literally cut trough the junlge to get to this field where we picked peas. OMG. haha we all got there sooooo tired and sweaty!! hahaha
Then, we were able to see familia Torres Gonzales again. We taught the gospel of Jesus christ and the children are so alert and want to know more and we invited them to be baptized on friday, and they were all so happy and excited!! :D and sooooo we are so happy :)  That day, we were hearing a lot of things from contacts and less active members about the members of the church in their community being judgmental, etc. you know how it is when .. idk, it was just sad. like.... some of the people haven't yet realized that this church is not a special club, this is Christ's church and He wants everybody in it and EVERYBODY has their own problems and weaknesses, so that night we started a fast to try to help the ward and some other beautiful things. :) we stepped outside, and contacted the dad of an investigator that we have. She is a referecence from the Cachiguango family and wants to come to church,  but she needs the permission from ther dad, and we found the dad, but of course, he was drunk and .... drunk people are more sincere. he was talking all about the church and what he wants and all these things and we tried to help him the best we could, but we had to go. Not much was being done, he was tying in like chairs to guatemalan rabbits, like nothing made sense, and then.... hahahha this makes me laugh. We found a member family walking. and it was sad for me because we had heard a lot of sad/bad things about them that day, and IT WASN'T ME!!! the Spirit like.... really reproved and then edified them. hahaha and we left and i just started laughing and was like... i don't know what that was... and she was like... yeah I got so scared. I was like "oh man hna Tangedal is going to go off on them!!!" hahhaa but no!  it wasn't me, because I don't even know how I came up with the things that I said.  Well, it was good.

And then Sunday.  Sunday, just a week of miracles. dauny, we had the Torres family and they don't speak kichwa. They came to church and we were just praying that the meesages were going to be in spanish, and what... THEY WERE!!?? And one of them was ....exactly what we were fasting for,. ha ha it was so awesome :) then we went to our classes and the spirit was just so strong and man,  the kids loved church, made new friends, and someone gave them a mini hymn book as a gift! :D they are so happy and still have a baptismal date!!! man. fasting and praying and consecrating yourself to the work brings miracles!! :)

Guys, the Gospel is true!!! so happy. remember faith with doubt DOES NOT EXIST. have faith:) miracles will come :D

Me and my comp were walking to church.- its so pretty!! omg.- Haha a man was walking by, was like sisters!! you going to church!!?   us, yeah we are! and he offered to take one of my bags of dirty clothes, so he took it, and then he left and disappeared. and we were both like wow what a sweet man. who is he? and I was like.... oh no I thought you knew him .. and she's like I thought you knew him... hahaha and then we were like... well he might have just stolen my dirty clothes. hahahahahaha but nah we found the bag at the church!!!

us and the torrres family
oh yeah  we got mammitas now and they literaly feed us 4 servings of food. like a MOUNTAIN of rice. I'm getting fat. hahahaha oh well. when in Ecuador :) they're so generous.
and a member made me a unicorn hat just like I asked for. muahaha.

Love You All!!

Mon, Mar 10, 2014 at 4:05 PM Happy pie day!!!!! 3.14 (coming up!)

Oh my goodness!!! THIS WEEK HAS BEEN AMAZING!!!! Well, a little explanation. Our mission president extended an invitation to read the talk, "The Fourth Missionary", by Lawrence Corbridge (something like that). And then BE the fourth missionary. Its the only intelligent thing to do anyways :)  well so I have been reading it and studying it, and I just feel so much happier. The fourth missionary is a missionary who just forgets about himself/herself and works to help others. I felt like I was closer to being the fourth missionary before the mission ha ha but as it is necessary, we all need to pass through trials that take us low so we can learn to grow and be strengthened! :)   I have been praying and fasting, and just studying and doing all my part to be that fourth missionary, and I truly feel a difference. This week was marvelous. I learn so much every day :) Just learning how to be a better disciple of Christ :)

Well, Tuesday, we made 3 cookies...twice! ha ha we went with Maria Fernanda and her two kids and taught the word of wisdom. It was truly a great night. She truly wants to know more about the Church and wants the best for her and her 2 children :)  She wants to get baptized, but has to make some changes in her life before doing so. Then, we went with la familia Santellan. They are active members of the Church, but the Bishop asked us to visit this family and help them. It was awesome!!! And then Hno Santellan told us that He was excommunicated. And we told him we'd help him get back up, but.... we found out Thursday that we can't teach excommunicated people, or at least him right now. but we saw him and his wife on Wednesday and they told us that they were so happy to have us in the ward. they can truly see a light in us and they feel sooooo comfortable and happy talking to us. That really made us soooo happy!!! :D it was amazing!

Ha ha on Wednesday, we were walking up this fat hill and there was a guy walking down the hill and we passed him and said buenas tardes and kept on walking, but something inside was like call him! and I didn't think twice haha and just turned around and was like HEYYY!!!! (already a good distance away) ajahaha and we talked to him and turns out, he is the brother of one of our investigators!! crazy right!? haha we are going to see him this week :)  Then we were able to meet Tamia's father!!! He actually really wants his children to follow the right path. so we don't feel too scared to get his permission for Tamia to get baptized!  :) we are all so happy!! and feel like he is going to give the permission!! :)

Thursday, we were able to do division with the Hermana Líderers. that was suuuuch a great experience, as always. I learned so much and we were able to find a few families that haven't come to church in like two months and share with them. They were so happy! WE WERE SO HAPPY!!! and we found so many new people who are stoked about the Gospel!!! Woot!!  and while teaching English, some mom heard us and asked us what we were doing and we presented ourselves and she wants her son to learn English too, so we're thinking about starting an English club for kids! :) ya ye!!! its been so fun! I'm so proud of my students. hahhahaha ;)

Friday, we had a beautiful day and met with a less active member. she is sooooo great!!!! she was so happy to have us over. We helped her peel corn as she explained what was happening in the Korean soap opera that she was watching haha it was dope. ;D hahahhah     but yeah she was telling us that she actually wants to serve a mission and that she has a friend who is interested in the gospel and we actually have a family home evening with them tonight!! we are so excited!!! :)

Saturday, we woke up at 5 to go clean the chapel because we had 3 tours planned for the day, We went and..... oh my gosh. well... there are a lot of children.... and the building was . a MESS! It actually made us so sad and frustrated that the members let the chapel reach that point..... but we cleaned up and listened to church songs and we accumulated a pile of trash..... quite large, but I don't want to rag on anyone. We are going to give a lesson about keeping the chapel clean. and... then all three tours fell through. oh well... but it was a great day!!

SUNDAY WAS THE BEST DAY EVER!!! We don't know if it was because we had cleaned the chapel or WHAT, bu we could feel the spirit so much stronger. We had 5 investigators come to church!!! I have never had ONE come to church. it was amazing. and we did divisions with the bishops wife to pick everyone up and we talked and dang this woman is so strong. The Spirit was soooo strong in church. the messages were in Spanish. The members all welcomed our guests and we taught gospel principles to a good group. man. then we went to celebrate a birthday and they gave us guinea pig! YUM!!! and the spiritual thought that we shared was .... awesome. it was amazing. and then we went to have another with a less active family and ... MAN THE SPIRIT. soooo strong.

Guys. I know that this Church is the Church of Jesus Christ. I have no doubts. I am so happy to just forget about myself and think about the people here and just do all that I can to help them come unto Christ!!!! I love life and I love everything about everything. soo I have no time, but today we went to a waterfal in the jungle. that was doope hahahaha    The Church is true I promise. and I invite you all to pray for charity this week!! LOVE EVERYONE!!!

con mucho amor,

Ñaña Tangedal

ALLI CHICISHI!! Ñuca micani ñaña Tangedal!

February 24, 2014

Good afternoon! I am sister Tangedal! hahhaa learning kichwa. trying... trying.. it's hard!! This week, the fleas and bedbugs violated me hahaha.   I have the prettiest bites all over my body. We all do. Those of us that have served in Otavalo, it's the mark. hahahaha,  but his week has been amazing.:)  We had our reunión de distrito ( district meeting) and it was great! it's just us and 2 elders, and it was about talking to all the people, because it's not right that we walk past people all the time and don't share the message with them!! And so, mi compañera y yo (my companion and I) decided to put that in practice and seriously follow the spirit, sooo we had a plan fall through and we were like.. hmm lets go find Martiza!! and we went, but we found a young mom instead and we have an appointment with her this week. Then we went to Martizas house and we found her dad that TOTALLY blew us off. and we're like.. ok... so we said a prayer and thought, where should we go?  I super felt like we neded to contact this one house, but there was a dog....... but  what's new? the dog is going to try to kill us? Nothing new. I'm just so thankful that I haven't been biten yet!!! - knocks on wood-,  and so we went and the guy just blew us off and we just stood there and didn't move and then like a minute later, his wife came out of nowhere and we started talking to them and they had so many questions and want to know more.  :))) yaye!! they wanted to come to church, but we had ...uh voting? they voted for the mayor of the pueblo, sooooo they couldn't come, but they accepted a fecha bautismal (a baptismal date), and we're soooo happy!!! :D

From there, we went walking to find another investigator, but along the way, I felt like. hey we need to contact that house, and so we did and the lady, Gabriela, had so many questions that are ALL answered by the plan of salvation and the restoration. ahhhh so happy!!!! she is stoed about the gospel and we are going to try to teach her when her esposo, husband, who is catolic also, is home. Man, what a greatlife. hahahhahaohhhhhhhhh
Soooo there is this family, less active and one daughter hasn't gotten baptized, but she is super rebelious. we invited her to get baptized, but then since then she told the family to lie to us and say she's not there. I think the mom is doing the same, but just to be annoying, we go every single day to see how they are dfoing hahaha and the litle boy is like 4 always says, they're not here!!! And I was like... oh is your mom here? and hes like no
your dad? no
your sister? no.
your other sister? no.
your other sister? no.
your other sister? no.
your other sister? no.
Ohhh OK, then why do I hear them talking in the house???? and he just looked at me like ohhh crappp- hahahahahah and I was like. "kuyak, why are you lying to us?" haha yeah. that's right. and he just stayed silent. Little liar,  then seconds later, the dad came and he's a less active recent convert and he's awesome. we want to fet him back in the church, but he is ealing with guilt because he isn't keeping the WOW (Word of Wisdom);  and he saw his son and was like "kuyak, is mom home?" and he was like................yeah............   and the dad told him to go get her, and he was like... she says she doesn't want to come, she's busy.
Soooo, they have been lying to us forever. haha not surprised, but I was soooo happy to have caught him in his lie!!!  hhahhahhaa,  man I love my mission. omg!!!

We watched a sister milk her cow and the cow was calling it's baby and the bull came running and we were like omg! haha and ran in the house right in front of us! and then the little boy was like oh yeah that bull is very aggressive. hahaha and then, then we saw steam coming from the bulls nose!!! I thought that was only in cartoons!!!!!! hahahha   and so we taught a short lesson to the little boy who's house we ran into and he prayed for us to be safe from the bulls and we felt so much better hahahah.

Oh my gosh. andnadhajsdhksjfhh   and last Sunday hahhhahaha we invited a less active member to come to church, but he tried escaping, so we went by the door to block it and we saw  this truck coming to the church and all the dogs chasing it and barking and then this dog came out of nowhere and pushed one of the dogs under the car and it got run over and I was like jkdfhgjhgjkhgjkhsdgsdfjkh blahhhhh fgjdgkjhdghdgfh in shock and we're like omg "anote la placa !! anote la placa!!! (get the licence plate) OMG!!!! it's familia Guajan Panama!!!" Hahhahahah it was a famiily from the church, hahah.  The dog is fine, it just has a broken leg, but it's a punk anyway, haha trust no dogs here!!! No dogs.   I gave a dog a piece of chicken though and it came and kissed my feet later that day hahha I was like yeah that's right,, ñusta Tangedal  (queen tangedal in kichwa).   what else...
Oh gosh, and carnival is starting and we're hiding in an Internet cafe because the people outside are throwing water balloons at every girl who walks by and is shooting foam at them and flour.    During carnaval we are going to be locked inside unless we have sure appointments, otherwise, no, we can't go outside. Apparently, our sector gets super crazy. hahaha woot!!! Well, life is great!   The genocide of the fleas starts when my comp and I get home. We gon kill em!! kill em all!! ohh hahahahha
We had our house blessed and dedicated because that ghost just wanted to make a mess!!! First it spilled the oil, then makes creepy noises, then oh this week, I was sleeping and then all of the sudden, the light switch flipped on and off. It wasn't just the light, it was the switch, and then, we were sitting at our desk and it smacked a stack of papers on the floor right off sister Cajas desk! hahaha then... i think it was yesterday when the door opened to the balcony while we were just siting there. We don't feel scared, but it's just like... really?, leave us alone ghost! Go home ghost. you drunk! hahahah :) but the house feels better now that it has been dedicated. :) o  man I love my mission. so many crazy awesome things.   Friday, we had personal revelation after personal revelation and it was the best thing ever! I know Heavenly Father is blessing us, our families, and is preparing these people for us.  I love everything!!!   yeah it's hard, but I have learned a lot of things that I needed to learn and I feel so much better :)   Still, I'm the bruja,( witch), because I have been super following the spirit this week,  it is like to the point that I'm picking names out of heads. haha I love it!!!   And this week we have been talking super fresa, just joking, but omg I have almost peed my pants hna Cajas does it sooo funny!!! mom you know what fresa is , right?

Anyways, I love you guys and know that I am safe, covered in bites, but safe and life is awesome!!!!! Always follow the spirit!!  Oh yeah last story hahha, so this dog that lives next door omg. tries to kill us. but today and yesterday it hasn't barked at us... Idk what happened!!?? But anyways, one night I felt, "take out the keys" but I didn't do it because I was like nahhhh, and we advanced and see the dog on the balcony and I was like be careful there is the dog! And we do, and she comes down and starts barking and chasing us and hna cajas picks up a rock and then the dog backs off a little and then comes closer and then she picks up another rock and it backs off and then comes closer and we're like inching to the house as I'm SCRAMBLING for the key!!!! and she's like LLAVES! KEYS!!!! Hahaha and I'm like I'm trying I'm trying !! ROCK!!! And the dog keeps advancing and finally I open the door and we jump inside and slam the door and just BUST UP LAUGHING. omg,.   God is so funny.

Despite there not being too much spiritual material in here, this week has been amazing :) I'm so happy with it.:)  We were able to find so many new people and we feel soooo great about them and them progressing!!! :D yaye!!!
Well, I will try not to die this week : hahahha nah I wont. God is seriously soooo freaking awesome I love Him!!!!

Get closer to God this week, and if you can, do some service for someone :)))))) read the liahonas. charity is the pure love of Christ. Man, life is awesome!

Love you all!! con mucho amor,
Hna. Tangedal

Silly me and those Emergecy Transfers. hahah

Man this week has been amazing. Amazingly busy!!! ha ha ha omg.. in our ward council, the bishop was like , Hna. Quito, how is the Berrazueta family? Sister Quito is one of my favorite people in Quito) and he goes... Bien!. ªª claps his handsª Bien mal ! hahahhaha good times.
Anyways yes sooo busy. Saturday we went out with a member to our lessons in the morning. It was great because he just got back from his mission and he's young and the people we had set up for the morning are young! But they fell through. Nonetheless, we contacted in an area that we have never contacted in before and we found people soooo ready for the GOSPEL!!!. there was a door and a dog on the step. My comp was like NO!! and i was like yes!! and I trusted that the dog wasn't going to attack me... weird because they are crazy here, and that family was sooooo ready for the gospel. it was a miracle!!! :)))
Well, actually my companion was super sick all week so she stayed in, but I went out with the other sisters and members. One day, I went out with sister Conder and we went to an apt in Zambiza, it was all dark and the house was down this alley way that was all dark and caution taped off and full of dogs, but we followed the spirit and still went down with pepper spray in hands...then came back. it wasn't right ha ha, and then we found a lady on the street while figuring out what to do and bam,. she has a date for her baptism. It was amazing, and her friend just got baptized this past week. What are the odds!!?? ha ha
Sorry I have NO time, but
anyways, it was a great week and I'll tell y'all about it next week. This week, I was emergency transferred again.. ha ha but now I'm in Imbabura. and learning Quichua. It's all indigenous people here and beautiful. I'm so stoked.

I know that this church is the Church of Jesus Christ. I'm so happy to be here. for real. dang. I'm so sorry that this is so rushed, but I Am over the time limit. These PCs are a lot slower.... more to come next week , but NEVER GIVE UP. GOD HAS YOUR BACK!!!!!

love you all!!

This is where I am supposed to be right now.

Man, this week has been awesome. To start off....
1. I discovered Polaca. OMG it is delicious and like a whole meal. Its like this Colombian cream thing. (There are like 8953457389457390745 Colombians here.) But it is like heavenly!!! :D You know whats cool. I wanted to go to Colombia on my misson, but the Lord was like....Yeah Leah its probs too dangerous for your little white self. I'll send you to Ecuador where there are a bunch of Colombians. :) God loves me.

2. I was walking to visit a family less active. OMG, my english grammar is bad. Hey I am coming back with an accent!! Anyways, I was walking and there was this man walking in front of us....he looked white, so I talked to him, and He loooked sooooooooooo much like he´d be Pops´ brother or family or something. Pops is my grandpa, but he spoke ecuadorian spanish and had been here obviously for a looong time. But then he goes. Yes, but I am from-- Oslo, Norway. WUT. cray, right??? Pops´family is from Norway!!! Maybe just all norwegians look alike or something...but NO, that's not true. He truly looked like he would be my family!!!!!! And so, I got his info and we are going to try to teach him! :) what what!!!! so that was cool. His name is Wilson Bring.

3. We made mexican tacos with a family for noche de hogar. (Family home evening). It was delicious!!!! :) They wanted to learn how to make them :)

4. I eat fried plantains all the time and crave them. yum...

5. We went with an hermana del barrio. She is less active too. Part of our "crecimiento real". which is to help the less active families become active in the church again. (the Church is 100% true ) :)    Her name is Paulina. We FINALLY got to meet her. She was always working and would always stand us up. Sooooo... she lost her job... and we visited her and she is so cool. She basically poured her heart to us and was like "I need to come back to church! I want to! I need to-."  and so we are working with her and that has been so awesome,.

6. We visited the >Guerrero family who are sooo awesome. Um well, to start, the mom has 12 kids, the oldest of which is like 40 and the youngest is like 9 or somethihng like that. so the kids already have kids and the family is basically enough to populate a small village. This family is an indigenous family and I truly love them, I feel like I was really good friends with them in the premortal life. Seriously I feel like I already knew them and we are reunited. This family is amazing! Four of the sisters came to church this Sunday and that was awesome!!!! I am so happy for them. they are also multiple families from our list of "crecimiento real". sooo awesome. Oh yeah and Ana, (I feel like I know her from before) is 20 also. Her marido/bf isn't a member and she was like..hey come over and meet my husband. He was interested in the >Church and I want him to meet you guys, so we came over and taught the restoration and watched the video. It was awesome the Spirit was soooo strong. He was super happy about it all. He's defininitely going to be progressing. I am soooooo excited for these people. MY FRIENDS!!!

7. We also visited Sara, who is 20. She, like, i dont even know. God knows. I honestly feel like we knew each other before too!!!. Either my veil is really thin, or I am ....nope. My veil is thinning. I am finding all these people that I KNOW I KNEW BEFORE. serious. its cray and >I love it. We watched the restoration video with her and it was really good. She feels like she is the place of Jose Smith too. Oops. Joseph for you english speakers, hehe jk my spanish isn't all you think it is, haha but,  yeah it was awesome! Her baptismal date for the 8th of Feb fell through because she didn't come to church this week, but she is still progressing so much, she is scared because last time she joined a sect they really like mentally damaged her...but what she doesn't understand just yet is that This Church is the Church of Jesus Christ,. and there is no lie in that sentence. The Church has honestly changed my life. I am so happy. So, she is excited, but asked if she could take it slow and we are all for it. We are here to help and invite. Not to obligate. (Which I am soo happy to have been changing for the better everyday!)

8. I met a man named Milton Teras. Conocí un hombre que se llama, Milton Teras. Mil tonteras. jajaujaujauajuajaiujauaa    Mil tonteras is like... well use google . haha  He is so funny-.
 Its been real.

Im cutting my hair today. I have been losing a lot and its scaring me! The altitude does freaky things here. and were on the equator, or its the lack of exercise. jk I walk like 5 miles a day at least, haha or its the diet., but its time. Im cutting it. We went bowling with our zone today. It was so fun,. I love each of these missionaries, unfortunately, I left the picture on a friends camera and didn't transfer them. but later!! :) Life is amazing. >I hit rough days all the time, but I can FEEL my Savior´s love. I am so happy. Oh an mom I got your package!! Thank you sooooo much for the scarf and the pepper spray and the everything. I love you guys!!! :) My dearest family. I love you and my friends also. SO MUCH!!! and Rachel I got your letter. You are a doll. I'm so proud of you and your work. Dats right . mah gurl is serving in the Richmond Virginia mission. Look out for Sister Marion, y'all, or Sister Arce or Crandall, or Moore. They are roughing it up in Richmond, haha And mah girls in LONDON and UKRAINE and WYOMING. and my girls who GOT MARRIED!!!. "sHoUt OuT tO tHaT tOiLeT!!"     jk not this time. SHOUT OUT TO MY LOVES!! I am so glad that God is taking care of you. Although we are passing through rough times and dangerous times... we are alive and happy. and PROTECTED MORE THAN ANYTHING. Car accidents, cancer, chemotherapy, etc. Im so proud of you guys. Strengthen your relationship with God. He truly loves you and is watching out for you. He's totally watching out for me too. I promise!!! :) I know that God lives. I am so thanksful to have a God who loves me so much!! Jesus Christ is amazing!!! :) Yo sé que esta es la iglesia de Jesucristo. No tengo dudas. This life is SO much easier with the Church. I promise.

con amor,
Hna Tankehdoh (thats how im known here. hehehe)   TANGEDAL

me and my companion and Hna Cajas!!   BOWLING!!

It's Been a While!! (December 30, 2013)

BUT I'M BACK!!!! BACK BACK ... BACK AGAIN GAIN GAIN. HAHAH :)
Yeah that's right. Me. Sister Leah Tangedal. I am back .) and feeling really good!! I'm so stoked to start a new year. Well where to start...

Some cool things that happened. A couple of weeks ago I was like ''lets go see Olga!'' and so we did. On the camino (path) I found 5 dollars. Weird, because it was suuuuupppppper windy and there were a million people walking by, but no one saw this 5 dollars. 5 dollars aqui (here) gets you a long way, and it was on the way to Olga's house so I was like ''well it's not mine and I don't need it, so it's Olga's''. So, we went to her house, but she wasn't home.  Later that night we came home earlier because I got a little sick and we had to call some people, but I called Olga to see how she was and she said she was horrible! I was like, what?? Why?? And she told me that she lost 5 dollars while walking and now doesn't know what to do, and then I was like...ummm are you serious??? Where do you think you lost it? And then she told me and I was like,... I HAVE YOUR 5 DOLLARS!!! and then we both freaked out over the phone. Super crazy!! She was soooooo happy that I found it . Me, too. Then I was like, well...... (she is a less active member of the church) just come to church tomorrow and I will give it to you!! And so, that's what happened. We went to pick them up, took them to Church gave her her 5 dollars, and they LOVED church, she loved every class and every message and her 3 little boys (who are so cute) were soooo happy to be there!! I am sooo happy that happened.

Hmm... we have an investigator that we contacted in a really funny way, but i won't talk about that until i get back home... hahahah anyways, she's so cool and we gave her a Book of Mormon. She told us that she reads it everyday and she says that it makes her day go sooo much better, because she feels really peaceful when she reads it. Uh . Heck yea!! We just have to help her understand that that is the Spirit and the Spirit  testifies of the truth and if the book is true then Joseph Smith was a prophet and if he was a prophet, this is the Church of JESUS CHRIST restored on the earth once more!!! yayayayayee!!! :D so awesome.

Oh man so many great things! So many great things! :)   It was rough for a while, but then I just decided to make some changes slowly and I feel like I'm on the top of the world! I'm so stoked to start the new year. oh yeah!!! Soooo here in Ecuador, they make big dolls called (viejos) old men, and they burn them. It's like burning the año viejo (old year) and starting from scratch. We were like, oh my gosh! it's like baptism!!!! And so, I know that there are a lot of people who are ready to stat a new year and WANT  to get baptized. They're ready! I know it! El Eden is going to become the next Provo. I'm on it!!!!

Today, we had transfers. My companion, Hna Calderon was sent to Ofelia as well as Hna Davila. Hna Finley is staying here and she is going to be training. She is pretty stressed, but i know that she is ready to train a missionary. I prayed to not train because I know I am not ready yet, and voila! I am not training. I got a new companion and she's pretty cool. She's from Honduras. Hna Palau. Good times. It's a bitter-sweet transfer because some of the people that I got really close to moved to the coast or to Otavalo (the more more indigenous area). but i know i will serve with them again and be able to be graced by their presences. They're excellent missionaries. I am so proud of them. Speaking of proud. My best friend Ellen Stone stoker got married on Friday the 27th to Devin Stoker. Love you guys. And my best friend Scott Long got married to Tressa Allred Long on Friday the 27th. annnnddddd my other best friend Maria Ann Lydiksen got her mission call to England London South. Soooooooo proud of you all. All of you and Rachel an Brittni, you guys are on missions right now. Virginia and Ukraine are blessed.  :) soooo happy. yes...we are locked out of our house and the dueña (boss-lady) doesn't come back till the 10th, but I think we'll find a way in.... hahahaha i hope.

Life is great and I am so happy! I have learned a lot of new and wonderful things. Although, I feel like burning the dolls is voodoo, I'm going to do it!!!! Its like baptism and who doesn't like baptism!? Washed away from all your sins and you receive the Holy ghost. I'm stoked. I'm so ready to accomplish all my new goals. I want to ring every doorbell here in Eden and San Isidro Del Inca. I know there are diamonds here and they are waiting for someone to share this amazing gospel with them. I am not here for me, but for the Lord. I am ready to forget about myself and focus on the needs of those around me because as we see in Mosiah 2:17, when we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God. :) I'm so ready and so excited to start working super hard!!! Maybe I was a little depressed for a little while. I don't know what depression even is. I'm Leah Tangedal, but I don't know. There were some rough times,  but life has turned around. I'm going to finish reading the Book of Mormon tomorrow I think.....my goal is 100 pages. We have to be in by 5 because it gets REALLY cray around here on new years hahaha. soooo I have time.

But yeah. life is amazing. I am so happy about my goals, my plans. God is amazing. I am so happy that we have a God who loves us and sent us His Son to atone for our sins. He died for you, and me. and all of us. He knows exactly what we go through and He has told us that He will forgive us of our sins an relieve us of guilt and sadness if we just come to HIM. COME TO HIM. Its so amazing. I have really learned so much more about our Savior in these few months on a mission. I'm so happy right now. Life is amazing. Be good examples. LEAD BY EXAMPLES Y'ALL.

Love you all and I will send you pictures one day when I have my cable and its not locked in our house. hahaha :)

Con much amor,
Hna Leah Tangedal
