When Ecuador scored a goal.... (June 23, 2014)

Lololol
Actually this week was a little tough. my companion, Hna Irepan, was a little bit under the weather and we experienced a lot of rejection. woo!! Ha ha but we started praying for the people who are looking for us to find us, and guess what, THEY DID!! it was super cool to get contacted ha ha people were like hey I want a pamphlet, or like tell me more, or they were like what are you guys doing here!? And then we presented ourselves :)
Yesterday was super tough because one of our investigators told us that she couldn't listen to the message anymore because her daughter is super evangelical and she doesn't want the family split up. Well duh we don't either, but ahhh man. its so hard when you know what exactly it is that the people are rejecting. Its our salvation!!! Your salvation! All of our salvation!!! And so, we were there crying a bunch trying so hard not to, but we felt something super special with that family. I know that they changed a little bit to see how sincere we were, but man, we could nooooot stop crying. But hey, I know that the Lord knows the time for everyone. and I know that when we leave people, more people come.
Monday, one of our old investigators found us and told us that they wanted to hear us again. What was so awesome and I am so happy for that! :D and... Thursday, well I had to use my pepper spray..... don't freak out.... but... we were going to our investigators house with the zone leaders, and I warned them that the dog next door is vicious, but no one listened to me. Well the dog almost ate one of the elders and almost attacked us ha ha, and I sprayed him in the face with pepper spray and he ran, but oh my gosh. ha ha we were dying of laughter because we have never seen that elder run so fast in his life. ha ha ha and... well duh we were a little scared. ha ha but it was a great experience.
Well this week is San Juan. something really cool that the Otavalo people do here. You can look it up on google, but basically, there are a lot of huge parties by our house. ha ha ha, its so cool though. I like to see the cool masks, listen to the music and the dances. Its indigenous traditions. so cool!! :)
Oh and my companion discovered super glue in the funniest way ha ha ha ha.  Well,  i was on the phone giving the daily report to the elder, and I look over at my comp and she has it all over her hands and  I was like ....... UMMMMMMMMM.  ha ha, then she looks at me completely terrified!!! Ha ha ha and we got it off the most possible, but her hands were done. dun. DUN. hahahaha, but it came off the next day. Then she super glued my shoes to the floor, and many other things that didn't seem to be super glued... hahaha whatta prankster.
Ha ha and when Ecuador scored a goal against Honduras in the mundial, world cup, everybody was like wooooo!! And my comp shouted JESUS IS COMING!! and everyone was like wooooooo!!! ha ha its was the best thing ever!!!

Anyways, the spiritual side...   a pesar de que esta semana fue una semana un poco difícil, we got through it and have found new people. Hna Irepan and I had a breakthrough the other day. God is a dentist. a scientist. an artist. everything. He knows how to do everything. I know that before the mission I wasted my time with facebook and random things, but I know that that isn't something that I want to continue doing. I actually want to learn all that I can. Its so important!!!! That's the only thing that we can take with us when we die. our intelligence!! Man, I love the scriptures. I love love love the book of Mormon. I have been reading the Bible and duh its awesome, but some parts are so confusing. and the Book of Mormon clears it up. its so cool that Jesus went to the Americas too and told them all the Gospel. Then the Book of Mormon has only been translated once!!! Ahhhh its my favorite. and the best part is that anyone can know if its true if they pray with a sincere heart and honestly look for the answer. I realized something today. that we aren't going to get something if we don't work for it. So, that is why we need to study the scriptures and pray to receive our answer. Man, so great. I love the Gospel. It really opens your eyes. This week I was really able to stand back and look at what's reaaaaally important :)

I Love Life!!

Congratulations Bull on your graduation!!!! :D

I love you all!!

They dun dit it. we dun dit it. (June 30th, 2014)

So, we left them all. Almost all of our investigators. haha we have like none now, but I know that the Lord is planning everything. He's got everything down :) We are going to find people asap. :D I'm super excited for life. It's so great guys. It's tough sometimes, like dang, but, a fellow missionary reminded me something very important... in the words of a wise fish, just keep swimming. just keep swimming. just keep swimming swimming swimming swimming. What do we do? We swim swim SWIM!!! c :)    Ya ye!

Well, ha ha, this week we had our zone conference that was soooo cool! It felt like, once again, it was personalized for me. My comp felt the same way. The Lord is awesome how He works :) Ha ha, that night, since this week has been San Juan,  there have been parties and dancing on the streets left and right. Well, we were coming home at like 8:20 p.m. and we are like. Oh, let's get some food, but though, maybe we could go in and just be in a little earlier, butttt we had no food, so we went to the store and then what happens??? All of the sudden everybody on the street starts running away and screaming . What happened you ask? Yes, of course, the rival community came to crash the party. Literally right in front of our door. Apparently, when they battle, they start throwing rocks and all these crazy things. There have been deaths in the past. Well. we got locked inside a bakery. Ha ha, but there wasn't any problems that night, like rocks or deaths. That was Friday night. D:   but we are totes fine! We were on the other side of the city, ha ha in the woods, visiting a less active member that has been praying for our visits and we found her just in time :)
Saturday was super cool though, because, as we left all our investigators, we found three old investigators that want us to come back and teach them !! Awesome<!!! That was super weird, but awesome!  The Lord works miracles.  The Elders had a surprise baptism this Saturday and we might be having one this coming Saturday also. She is a 14 year old girl who is basically teaching US the Gospel. Ha ha. In her baptismal interview, the Elder was like, what about  ___ and she's like, well they haven't taught me this, but it's....... and she like went all deep. Ha ha ha love it!!!!

Well, I have no time, but remember that.. I don't know what I am doing, but I do know that this is Jesus' church. I know that HE organized this church to help us come back to him. I know that I am doing something that He wants me to be doing and I have to do my best because I know these things are true. Life's Great.

I love you all and I hope you can show even more love to EVERYBODY this week!!

Oyen monos...si me distingueeeeeee (how they will rob us if they're colombian)

Sometimes I just want to say... oh ye fools.... but I shan't. I just love life. I'm so happy that at least I can enjoy the blessings that come from the Gospel. It's so sad for me to see people rejecting the Gospel of Jesus Christ and putting false Gods high in their eyes. :( But that's why its so important for us to live in a way that people will want to know Christ :) Live as representatives of Him. :)   This week was full of interesting miracles... experiences, a little bit of everything. ha ha
So to start off, we had cambios  (transfers) last night... and Hna Irepan and I were freaking out since Thursday. Man This is awesome, like the best thing ever to be companions with one of your best friends, but then its going to suuuuccckkkkkk when you have transfers, and so, we were like joking around pretending to bribe the zone leaders to put in a good word for us and stuff like that ha ha, and we were praying and praying that we didn't have cambios... but we've already been together for 3 months... but guess what!! WE DIDN'T HAVE TRANSFERS! ha ha the DL called last night and was like... hermanas... I don't know how you did it, but you don't have cambios. Wooo!!! so much happiness last night!!!... after we locked ourselves out of the house until like 10 pm in the cold windy night. Ha ha walking sooooooooooo much to find that the keys were at a neighbors (bishop) house, but everything was solucionado (solved). :)

Well, this week, Edwin Morales got baptized!! it was quite stressful. He and his dad called us and told us that they were going to be a little late to the baptism because they were working construction on a house about 40 minutes away and we were like... well OK... and invited our investigators but they were worried they weren't going to make it, blah blah... Edwin didn't come to his 6 o'clock baptism until 8 O'CLOCK!! hah we were so stressed out! but  His job wouldn't let him out early if they didn't finish the house. well, because he came so late, our investigators were able to come and Edwin was able to get baptized!!! He was so happy!!! :D aww man. it was amazing. We are so proud of him and in his blessing (confirmation) it said that he was going to be a missionary!!!! i totally see it!!! :S we're so happy for him!

Some other cool things....
One of our inactive members who always blows us off and is semi rude to us....actually came down to listen to our message this week. She had so many great questions and we were able to clear up her doubts. That was so awesome.

This Sunday, we wore anacos (the traditional dress of the otavaleñas) it was awesome, but we walked soooooooooo much, and ran and everything..... that mine fell off ha ha but not completely. I saved it! Its just like a cloth and a belt holding it on. that was super fun :)

There was a cow and a turkey, and my comp wanted to contact the guy standing next to them and she goes, "hey what's your turkey's name?!" and he's like "turkey!" and this turkey had been making a lot of noise and apparently annoyed the cow/bull and all of the sudden the bull jumps and stomps right next to the turkey and the turkey made no more noise after that. hahahaha but we got super scared and screamed and ran away. ahahaha it was scary!!!!

One night, we started praying for the people who are looking for us to find us and we experienced a day of rejection and we were like... well lets just look for this member who is supposed to live over here and we go and ask all over and come to a house at 8:30 pm and ask and the girl's like... no you have the wrong house and we were like... oh bummer.. well we're missionaries and we teach about Jesus Christ and she was like "cool!!! and she was like yeah I want to hear more! when can you come!? yes yes I want to get baptized!" and we asked why she was so excited and she was like, " when I opened the door and saw you guys, I felt something super special, like super super nice in my heart. " and we were just like   <:O  :D      soooo happy. and so we are going to visit her this week! Se llama Nelly :)

Oh man.. so there's a brother in the ward and he's super cool. about a month ago, he told us that he was going to the hospital to take some tests because he's been having a headache for a long time. Well the doctors discovered that he has a brain tumor and its too risky to operate. We saw Hno Caranqui, his name, yesterday and man..... he's so sick. :( his wife is so young and she was crying so hard.... :( we went over just in time though. They said they prayed for help and we arrived right after and shared about the plan of salvation with them and helped them a lot. The message was comforting :) It was sooo sad though. to see them so sad. They know that he's going to be OK, but the saddest part was that his goal was to get sealed in the temple with his family this July temple trip. Man, but I know that there is a purpose in everything. They're going to be OK. :) God is taking care of them and has a PERFECT plan for us :)

Oh and we got a new lider misional (ward mission leader) who was part of the stake presidency, and needless to say, he is super pumped. like they are calling 40 ward missionaries and all of these reallllly cool things! :D we are so excited! we have already been receiving a lot of referrals from the members and have another baptism planned for the 28th. Her name is Dayan Ghyssleine :) she's 14 and so excited! she wants to go to the temple this July and serve a mission when shes 19. dang :D

Its been a great week. full of everything, but mainly miracles, good experiences and...... not the world cup.  :( can't watch it, but that's OK :) we can't leave this work to sit and watch a game!    We are talking about the salvation of our brothers and sisters.

Hey y'all. well I know with all my heart that this church is true and that our purpose on the earth is great. I will never let that go. God will never give us anything that we can't handle. Always remember that :) I love you all and LOVE with all my heart this gospel.

con cariño,

with a touch of colombian hands, brownies comeout majestic (June 9, 2014)

Well, this week was a great one like usual! :)  We have a baptism planned for this Saturday and everything looks like its going down well :) Ahh man. people coming out of the cuts yo!!! :D  Well, due to the short period of time, I just have a cool story to tell you, about the Holy Spirit.   So at the beginning of this week, I started to freak out and I was praying to feel the Spirit but like reallllly feel it, to have a stronger confirmation. Soooo Miercoles (Wednesday) en la noche, we were walking to the chapel and we started walking down this one road, where there usually are people, but not too many at this time of the night. So, there was an alley that I saw and a guy just leaning against the street light with a hoodie on, and immediately, I felt, "start walking faster". So I was like OK, bam. And my comp realized it, and she was like what??  I didn't want to scare her or anything and I just said, just walk faster.  I looked back and then he started following us. Then I felt, "take out your pepper spray", and so I did. We were walking  and I thought, nah he's not following us, but then, he crossed the street and was behind us. Then I looked back again and he was sooo much closer. We were walking super fast, and then we came to a spot where there was no one on the street and we crossed the street to go to a members house and fake that we were calling our dad or something. Then all of the sudden, these members come out of  nowhere and we ran to them and were like HEEEYYYY!!!! and that guy took a turn into some place. Then we talked to the members for a little while and thanked them and told them our situation. Then we started walking again, and saw that THIS GUY walked in a biiiiig circle, because he was waiting for us at the corner. We passed by him like nothing, but knew he was following us. I was ready to punch his teeth in... and then I look back and he was right behind us. We crossed the street and found us with another member!!! His name is Oscar, a recent convert and then that guy just kept walking. Oskar told us he would walk us to the chapel and so he did... and guess what? That guy stopped at a corner and just waited for us...until he saw me giving him a hardcore stink eye and saw that Oskar wasn't going to leave us. That was super interesting!!!!   It was soooo cool, because it was allll the Holy Spirit. I know that God is protecting us and answering all our prayers, we just have to recognize it :) Man, this week, so many things I want to tell you, but I  have no time.sorry y'all!!!    but know that this is the LORDS work!!! I have no doubt about that, and no doubt that this is the Church of Jesus Christ. I know that He is directing His church here on earth through the living prophet. Life is great and I love you all!! :)

ps  LISTEN TO THE SPIRIT!!!!

XXL dress was too small. a pacifier. a broken shoe. and a sledge hammer. we made it happen. (June 2, 2014).

Hey my friends and family!!!! How are you!? well I hope :) well this week has been a beautiful one. I finally was able to SEE my converts get baptized and it was soooo awesome :) aww man. Well I think i want to make this letter a little shorter this week, sooooo... Maria e Inti Morales Maldonado got baptized this Saturday. It was beautiful to see how they felt and to hear their testimonies. They are so ready to work and give themselves to the Lord. Edwin, the other son, was going to get baptized this Saturday, but due to some difficulties, he's going to get baptized next Saturday if all goes well :) He's super excited! Yey!!!! and As we have found, the area where they live is soooo white and ready to harvest. No joke, like every neighbor is so readY to hear about the Gospel and they want to change their lives. It's a marvelous change from before :D  People are coming outta da cuts, y'all!!!
Update on our investigator who got possessed... well, she still is and we are still forbidden to go over there without a priesthood holder... so that's a bummer. a BIG one. But we know that that family is ready to hear the Gospel. They have been telling their member friends that they want to!!! Sooo we just have to find a time when the bishop and his counselors can actually go over and find this girl. Apparently, the family has locked her up somewhere.... creepy right?!
But we are just finding people all over the place!! yesterday, we did division with some sweet JAS (YSA) and it was awesome!!! We were totally yelled at by this drunk couple. ha ha ha and then we walked away and experience lots of rejection, but that's a part of the mission, there's always going to be people against the Word of the Lord just like there is opposition in all things :( its sad, but its how it is. We just have to use our agency to choose the right :)   and in the midst of all the rejection, we found some super amazing people who are like "yes yes yes I want to know more!!" ahhh it's awesome :)
This Gospel is true y'all!!! I'm soooo happy to have the knowledge that I have. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us sooooo much. We have His Church here on earth!!!   I know that I definitely wasn't super sucked into the world before, but now I see just how sad it is when people are so lost in the things of the world. I know that drinking, drugs, and various partners is not a happy life. Not because people have told me and that I have learned that at church, but because I have seen it. I have learned for myself and not just blindly followed anyone. I have taken the time to really ponder about life, why we're here, where we're going, and what exactly our purpose is. I know that we have a God in heaven who loves us so much that we cant comprehend. I know that because He loves us so much that He sent us His son Jesus Christ. and I KNOW that there is no way that we can alleviate ourselves from the horrible feelings of sin unless we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. It has been the best feeling in the world seeing and helping people change their lives and see what is really important in life. There is another life after this one. This time here on the earth is our "4 minutes" to show the Lord who we are and that we will follow Him. I promise to all of you that there is a greater happiness out there and it is being a part of the Church of Jesus Christ. Not just any church, but HIS church. He organized His church when He came to the earth and it (the members) fell into apostasy, but our loving Heavenly Father has restored it again on this earth through a prophet. Sometimes that stuff sounds crazy, but its not. I invite you to take some time to think, ponder, about these things and pray and ask God, in a short, simple prayer, if He's there and if He's listening. Ask Him if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church. I promise, He WILL answer you.
People can criticize, but I know what I know, and I know it because I asked God. That is my invitation for you all this week.  :)
Well, know that I love you all and I hope you are having a great week. If things go wrong, just remember that there is a purpose for everything :) I know this Church is true. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.  :)
Love you all!!! well, today is my companions birthday and I'm planning to shower her with love!! yaye!! and by love I mean these cookies that are called love here. They're her favorite :) ha ha   so, I will talk to you all next week! :)

Enjoy these photos!!
Morales family baptism! :)
Happy birthday to my companion!! hahahaha I bought a bag of rose petals for a dollar and showered her in them. sooo funny!!! now our room smells like roses!
and then Hna Irepan slammed me in the face with all the frosting like a good companion :) ha ha ha I love her.

OMG, it was sooo funny. I was behind her when she was going to blow out her candles, but obviously, she knew I was going to push her into the cake, so I left the job to an Elder.... WHO LIKE WE SMACKED HER INTO THE CAKE. hahahahahahahahahahahaha we DIED laughing... and she almost died because there was so much cake in her nose.... and she smacked her chin on the table. hahahhahaha we're all great :)

BROKE AS A JOKE AND TIRED AS A POPE. (May 26th,2014) AND THERE WE WERE WITH NOTHING BUT 2 CENTS AND A BUTTON (May 19th, 2014)

Oh man. well this week has been straight up cray. Long story short, we did a service project and helped them out a handful...and how do they repay us? with CALDO 31!!!! What is it you ask? it's a blood soup and full of whatever organ you can find in the cow. ajksfsklgjkgjkgghghkjgdj   We tried everything to get the bad taste out of our mouths!!! Candy, ice cream, water, milk, banana, everything, rice, NOTHING. WORKED!!! ha ha ha but its the thought that counts... right? It was sweet of her to think of us :) ugh. It was like tripe and other poop. there was so much fat that our mouths felt like we just ate a ton of lard. mayonnaise by the spoonful. bleh.  ha ha.

Oh man elder Waddell, one of the area 70, came and my head almost exploded. So many good things!!! And I came out of that reunion completely edified!!

One of our investigator got possessed and her sister frantically called us in the middle of the night and scared the turds out of us!!! We had to schedule a .... visit with the bishop and his counselors.... but if you want to hear the story, well its cray, but I'll tell you later :)

Familia Morales Maldonado is getting baptized and we're soooo happy for them!!! People are coming out of the cuts. It's been a great week. kind of rough with a lot of things, but I know that the Lord is guiding us and keeping us up on our feet and protecting us. Sorry, there is no time to write today due to some technical difficulties, but everything is great :) I am just so so so thankful for the plan of salvation and the knowledge that we have that there is another life after this one and that this Gospel is true! I am soooo happy :) It's the best thing ever and the biggest comfort in the world :)

Oh man, so many things that wasn't able to tell you, but next week!! ha ha funny stories!

The Gospel is true and I have NO DOUBTS OF THAT!! I love life and I love everyday that I get to live and share this Gospel with these people in Ecuador and I know that I will continue to do it when I get back home. Every member a missionary and especially more when you are converted unto the Lord and the truth :)

And we found many FAMILIES this week!!!! soooo crazy how, but all next week... maybe. if I have time.. he he sorry!

Well I love you all and I hope that you all have a great week

Don't forget that the plan of salvation is real! :)

Love you!

E
enjoy the crazy pics of us.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

And there we were with nothing but 2 cents and a button.

(May 19, 2014)

Well I must say that I am quite tired!! Ha ha, we had a zone activity today and we played dodge ball with toilet paper wrapped in tape. It was wayyyy fun!! Then we played all these games and I'm poooped!!
Well Monday, we started the week off great!!! :) We haven't taken out the trash in a long time and we just kind of leave it outside... he he woops. Hey pues NUNCA pasamos en la casa!! (we're NEVER home!!! ) Maybe we're a little desperate to get rid of it...and so Monday we were coming home to pick up our scriptures and go to a family home evening appointment and then we heard the little jingle that is the trash truck. That's right..... you know that song that the ice cream truck has... well yeah it's not the ice cream truck... it's the trash truck. Ha ha ha, and so we heard the song and ran inside and grabbed ALLLLLL the trash...that's been rained on a million times ... sprinted down the street like 3 blocks to catch up with the truck and guess what.... the non organic trash is actually for Tuesday.... and they didn't take it. I was soooooo dun. Ha ha I was like.... wut? l really.... ha ha ugh. But it was sooooo funny. We have found some new investigators from the experience. People come up to us all the time and are like "hey you're the girls who were running with alllll that trash right!?" And then we're like yesh..... -_-...., hahahahaha oh, and to make things worse.... this one family saw us and were like 90 percent sure that the husband just thinks we're so dumb (he's mean) ha, and who do we meet there at the corner with a million bags of trash, soaked in tears?! Hermano Esponja. (name has been changed to protect his identity) Hahaha, ohhhh and earlier that day it was so hot and my comp and I decided to have a water balloon fight.... but something happened with the BIG water ballon that we had. It fell.... didn't pop...then rolled over to this hole in the wall....and...sort of....fell into the neighbor´s house on the floor below us..... WHOOPS!!! We couldn't stop laughing...
Tuesday...well we went to an appointment in 4 Equinas, the super countryside, and as we're walking through this corn maze thing, all of the sudden some lady pops out of the corn and is like "BUENAS TARDES!!" and scared the EVERYTHING out of me!!!! Ha ha ha and then she's like hey... yeah uh I am looking for my two year old baby and I need your help... and mind we were like right next to a REALLLLLY steep hill that leads into a river.... and so we're like. WUT!!?? Yeah! And then we're looking all around, up and down, for this baby and then the lady just leaves.... and we didn't know where she went, if she found the child, if she left the stove on, nothing. so we're like uh let's find her, and then we found her and she's like, oh  yeah I found her. She was in the house. -..... -_- lady. thank you for telling us 20 minutes later, as we're scaling up the side of a mountain trying not to fall in a river. IN SKIRTS AND FLATS. Ha ha ha good times, but it was a relief that the baby was cool :)
Wednesday... well,  we found this awesome sushi place. I know I know, but Leah, you don't even like seafood, mais no!! I like sushi! The owner is this sweet little lady from china who's a sushi master and her sushi´s so cheap and trust-able... and so we got sushi, and we loved it. We also ordered like the fattest plate of fried and breaded shrimp. Ha ha ha it was so good. We have been so bored of chicken, meat, rice, and corn, and nasty melloco! Ha ha, so that was awesome and the little Asian lady´s name is He Xin, and she was like... who is Jesus Christ!? And were like.... OMG! We have a friend who speaks Chinese here in Otavalo and we are going to bring her to come and teach her :) It's going to be soooo awesome :) aw she was so cute ha ha she was like taking pictures with us for her face book page ha ha!!
Thursday, we found a family on our list of people unrecognized ( I don't know how to translate it), and turns out, she is family of the familia Morales Maldonado who is getting baptized on the 31st!!! wooo!! And she was baptized when she was 9 but then stopped going to church because her parents heard rumors about random things and now she's 30 and needs the gospel in her life :) At first she was like no no, but then when we left, she was like "OK I'm going to read and pray!!!" Aaaall excited! That was a successful lesson I would say. The Spirit was there all the way! :) And her two sons want to get baptized, but they have to talk to their dad first :) We are going to do our best to find and teach him! Oh, and it was soooo funny because we are like asking around for the Morales Otavalo family, trying to find them, and allllll the neighbors are like oh yeah that's the family that just got out of jail for selling marijuana. They were busted a few years ago.
And we are like... oh nooo.... and so we were all scared... but when we found them, she was like yeah I love crafts and knitting and sewing and I'm making my own shirts and painting and she was soooooo sweet! Ha ha ha and turns out... it's not her. It's the neighbor. Ha ha ha ha woooooh. That was a clooooose one!!! :D Then, they ortiga-ed us. They hit us with ortiga!! Ha ha we asked for it though. We wanted to experience it. Ortiga.... is... I don't know what it is in the States.. or in English, but if you touch it, it feels like a bee sting. Ha ha when in Ecuador, right!? Wrong. It hurts. but it's all about the experience. Ha ha ha.

Well, this week has truly been a beautiful one :) Full of tears (happiness, stress, all of the above), smiles, "I love you´s", trying to remember someone's name and just call them Maria and it turns out it's their name sometimes even when they're a man, dead dogs on the street, you know the usual :) but most importantly, people progressing in the gospel!!! :)  We found Pacari Sandoval, a 19 year old mom of two chlidren who is stoked to get baptized :) She already came to church and had a tour and had like 3 lessons in one week and is loving the feeling she has when she reads the BOM :) awww man. It was awesome because we met that family a long time ago, but whenever we went, they never wanted to pay attention, sooo we were like "peace!" and then one day we came back and found the daughter and she sooooo wants to know more :) It makes me soooo happy! :) I know that she's going to be a huge example for her family!!! And last Sunday on mothers day, we had a cita (appointment) fall through and passed by that house and we're like.... mmmmm...OK... so we went in and found the mom in tears because the family is just having all these problems and she was all alone on mothers day with her hung over son in law and her kids ADDICTED to face book. So, she was like "thank you so much for coming. I was just thinking that you guys haven't come to visit in a while! :("   well.... to be honest they always were blowing us off.... but  we arrived just in time to give her a hug and make her feel a little better. So even though we weren't with our moms on mothers day, we were able to give a hug to a mom who REALLY needed it :) That was pretty cool-. Oh and Pacari is getting baptized the 7th of June :) ya ye!!!! We are so happy! Everything is working out so well! :) We leave investigators and find new people to teach that are so ready for the Gospel :)

Ha ha, and yesterday, they had 10 minutes left in sacrament meetting and we are like... and we are going to have a minuto misional (a missionary minute), by Hna Tangedal. ( and I was like... uh wut.. Ha ha surprise talk!!! It was cool though :) I just shared about how awesome it is sharing the Gospel and how I wish I would have shared this with all my friends before I came on the mission, but now I KNOW that I am going to share it with everyone :) because everyone needs it!!! It's that feeling that everyone is looking for!! :D

The Gospel is sooo cool. I know that it's truly the plan of a loving Heavenly Father. People can say that we´re foolish to believe in something that we can't see, but I know that not believing in God is foolish. Everything. EVERYTHING. Makes so much sense when you learn more about the Gospel :) and we can definitely feel Him. :) And I know that it is the best feeling ever! :) It's like a sense of happiness and comfort that you can't describe. ah :) I am soooo happy that I have this knowledge and testimony and is a growing conversion everyday :) The Church is true. I know that it is the only Church that has the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. :) Life is amazing. I hope that this finds you all well... makes some kind of sense... and at least makes you almost smile or something :)
I love life and I hope you guys do too!!! :D

Love Love Love,

Hermana Tangedal
Hipster Sacajawea
My comp and i before we fell down the hill and rolled in the mud 6000 times.

Just hanging out at the bus stop..where they always have a dead pig hanging from a rope...selling the ...."very clean"..meat that they smacked with a fly swatter...

ME ENCANTA TU SONRISA (May 12, 2014)

That song is playIng all over the place and I can't get it out of my head!

Pues, esta semana ha sido.. freaking amazing! Tantas cosas que pasaron!!!
Okay, escribí algunas cosas chidas que quería compartir con ustedes!!!!
Well, last week we did an ayuno (fast) to find a family to teach and hopefully prepare to get baptized... y que pasó!? Well, we found a familia!! My compis and I were doing divisions with two sister from church and my comp went to teach Familia Conejo. While teaching, this little boy, Inti Morales (neighbor), came over and was like hey can I listen and my comp was like, yeah!! And he just sat and listened an at the end she was like here, here's a folleto (pamphlet) for your family! Go ask them if they want to hear us! and he was like OK! and ran away and she never saw him again.... Welll a few days later, my comp and I went over to familia Conejo´s house and we saw the little boy, Inti and his parents, and we were like hey!!! And then we talked to them and were like hey can we visit you!? And they were like... yeah!!!! THURSDAY! and the wife didn't look too interested, but the dad was like yeah!!!  So we went Thursday and taught the lesson and at the beginning, the wife wasn't very serious and not too interested, but the dad was, and like almost finishing the lesson, the dad was like yeah I got baptized in Bogota, Colombia but I haven't gone to church in 17 years and I really want to come back. I have been looking for help, but its been so hard!! And we were like WUT. and so then... that was awesome. He was like giving his testimony and everything and then we invited his wife to get baptized and inti, and they were like YES!! tienen su fecha bautismal para the 31st of Mayo !! ahh and they are so excited. Then Inti, during the whole lesson was hugging this book and we didn't realize until the end that it was a book of Mormon!! and we were like .... wait... from where!? And they were like... yeah one day he went to his school (a Christian school) and found this book in the trash and he took it home and loves it! WE WERE LIKE...... WUT IN THE WORLD. It was soooooooooooo cool!!!!! Inti found us!! and so this week we have been helping this family out a lot and teaching them and they told us that de repente, (suddenly) they couldn't come to church because they had to do a construction job but they realllllly wanted to come! and we were bummed because their fecha bautismal would fall through if they didn't come, and they were like.. well if it rains, we will definitely come to church!!! and we were like OK!!! we are going to pray super hard that it rains! (its been raining EVERY SINGLE DAY my feet are always wet.) So, we had the whole district pray that it rained AND que pasó!? Sunday morning..... of course it was soooooo sunny and hot. We were like noooooooo!!!! how!!!??? But we did more important than anything, tell them to pray and ask God what was the best decision, go to church or no, and so we were all sad.... and they said that they'd call us if they were going to come and no call.... then we start leaving the house a little late and all of the sudden.... who called us!? THE MORALES MALDONADO FAMILY!!!!!! and they were like hey were coming to church!!! we went to work, but decided to come to church and then go back to work after church!!!! and we were like ahhh!! So happy! and so we went to go pick up the Familia Conejo and this week... well they totally changed. ugh. the husband is such a teenager. He's 25, but he's like.. ugh his reasoning with things is just.... hard to deal with ha it doesn't make sense... and so they told us that they were going to come and be ready and we came and they were just there washing clothes and said they didn't want to come. One little girl who wants to get baptized the 24th wanted to come, but we couldn't go alone with just her... it was a bummer and we were left broken hearted, buuuuuuut it was aight... Morales family was coming to church! and so we got to church like 10 late,. just in time to partake of the sacrament and we were looking for the family and DIDN'T SEE THEM ANYWHERE and we got so scared that they came and didn't see us and left because that's what happened to one of our investigators last week!!! she came, but was too embarrassed and didn't see us yet and so she left. :(    and so we were just BROKEN HEARTED and then right after sacrament, I see this little boy and I was like OMG!! They're outside!!! and my comp ran outside and brought them in and it was marvelous. They stayed all three  hours and were sooooooo happy!:D They loved it and the wife, Maria, is soooo excited to get baptized. She told us that she prayed and God told her that this is His church. omg so amazing. We KNOW THAT THIS IS OUR FAMILY THAT WE FASTED FOR!!!!!! :D
Friday, Hna Irepan and I planned a ward activity to play games like FHE BYU games, you now the cheesy fun ones. Well yeah we played those and some cheesy fun ones that my comp knew, and  well all this week we were freaking out about the activity and thought no one was going to come because the stake organized their soccer finals for the same night... in the same building...at THE SAME TIME!!! COME ON PEOPLE!!!   and everyone here LOVES soccer... so we were sure no one was going to come.... but....... we actually had a great turn out!!! something happened, and the soccer finals were cancelled!!!! and guess who came to the activity!!?? THE MORALES FAMILY!!!! They told us that night that they had received their answer from God that this is the Church of Jesucristo and that's what motivated them to come!! They had so much fun!! We all had so much fun! :) OMG it was such a blast and we are thinking about doing an activity like that every other week! they all have been talking about it all weekend! _) yey!! We even had some of our other investigators come and they had a blast!!! It was awesome!
What else... oh ha ha so 2 weeks ago while walking down the street, this middle eastern guy was like hey sisters!!! and we shook hands and walked away. And were like, oh, hey, must be a member. and then this week we saw him again! We talked a bit and actually, he's from Pakistan and he's muslim, but he LOVES CHRISTIAN PEOPLE, and was telling us all about how love is the most important thing and he is sad that there are so many like violent Muslims, etc and that the bible was translated so many times because the words have been changed and things have been lost. Cool right!? And then he was like I only want scriptures that are the truth. Only translated once! And then we were like.... THE BOOK OF MORMON! and then a taxi came and we had to jump in...., but he was super excited and we were too and we're sure that we're going to see him again. But it was cool that he was always the one to contact us and to tell us "thank you"! :)
Well, it's been raining 22/7 and my feet are ALWAYS wet. I bought new shoes and they are always wet... oops... I'm going to get wet foot disease...wait a sec... ha ha ha and it was sooo great to talk to my family and Scottypoo on skype!!! Sorry guys that I may have been without conversation, but it was just like... wut. I don't know what is happening right now,. I'm seeing you and talking to you!!!... sorry if i was boring...  well shoot dang!!! I have no time!!!

What else happened this week? Well.... our investigator's mom, Maria, received her answer and is stooooooooked, so happy!  And sooo I'm super happy for her :)
Oh man an sooo many other amazing things but they will have to wait for other Monday!!

Sorry y'all!!
Hey well, I love you all and just know that I KNOW that this truly is Jesus´church. it's the bomb that we have found It so early in our lives and we have been able to avoid so many problems! :D I love it! Well, if you have questions about what is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, ask the missionaries and pray and ask God if what they say is true :) You'll find out for yourself by the amazing feelings that come from the Holy Ghost! :)

Love love love you all!!

Hna Tangedal!
ha ha me and a laurel from the ward! :)
stop suffering!

ME AND MY BOYFRIEND (May 5th, 2014)

Yeah it's pretty dope. His name is Monsieur Rufus Montgomery III.
Well, this week was awesome. We had cambios (transfers) last night, but Hna Irepan y yo seguimos juntas. Dios have a great plan for us here in barrio Centenario!!! We're sooo happy!!  1) to still be together, and 2) because we are soo stoked to work with these people. I know that we are going to have some baptisms this cambio!! gotta have fe!! :)   The people are doing so great! we have full (plenty) of people who want to get baptized, but they cant because their hubbies are like no no no we're catholic and we're dying catholic, and then the wives like nooo because I know that this is true, and then, we're all just sad. We have to teach the husbands and just have them ask God. Have the desire to ask God. Man, if people just knew, why don't they know!!!??? ahhh.   Ask Him and He will tell you!! I asked Him and He told me. otherwise, I would NOT be here. the mission is so worth it. :) Life is amazing. I love to see people's lives change. I know that this gospel is true. if you just receive a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, then everything else is amazing :)

Well this week, we saw a lot of ... boobs. Man, the people here... just whip them out to breast feed in the middle of the lesson, street, whatever, doesn't matter. baby's hungry . and then when the baby is done eating... they don't even bother to pull their shirt down-....  -_-   its really funny. I mean I don't care, but its just like.... uhhmmmm    cough cough..... uhh...
Ha ha sorry that was probably too much , but this week all the lessons have been like that!!! It was ridiculous, ha ha and well we just found out that we can for sure eat off the street,  so we found this Colombian delicious treat stand and bought something and then the guy was like sooo interested in the book of Mormon and hes sooo excited!!! It was awesome because we were talking to him and then all of the sudden this guy comes out of nowhere and he's like ... just let me bear my testimony... and we're like.... wut....   alright give him the floor!!! ha ha and then he gave his testimony and it was soooooo helpful it was so funny because we just actually had a lesson with a member without knowing it. Ha ha he was just stalking us as it appears, lol and this guy was soooo stoked!!! I'm sooo happy for him! he's totally going back to Colombia and getting baptized there if we don't do it here ! :D ahh man, I love life. l love the Gospel. annnnnnd hahahaha in the midst of our little lesson on the street....... someone robbed us again. Ha ha what is it? My face? the paleness of my skin!? Nah they just stole my companions wallet out of her backpack ha ha ha,  it only had $5 bucks so that's alright :)

And OMG. part of our sector is ..... well like on this mountain. It's always a joke for us... oh yeah we're going to THAT HOUSE OVER THERE. and just joking... but then of course...... they are actually a reference from a member and want to get baptized and so we literally have to hike to get to their house all sweaty when we get there and then it's freaking cold because it's so high up and our sweat begins to FREEZE. Hahahaha good times. man. I love everything, and then my companion left her bible on the top of the mountain on accident so we have to go back right now. lol good times. ha ha ha

Well just know that I know that God has a huge purpose for us here in this barrio right now .:) I'm so stoked to help these people. We were able to "rescatar" bring back a less active member and now she's totes active and now her family wants to know more. We were fasting for them and another family and are truly seeing miracles. The Church is true y'all. I love life. I wouldn't if i didn't know that I had a >Heavenly Father who loves us so much and a Savior who gave His life for me :)   I promise you that if you want to change your life for the better, its not hard. I just invite you to pray and ask God if what that crazy Sister Tangedal is sharing is true. he will tell you! :)

Se que esta es la Iglesia que Jesucristo organizo. No tengo dudas :) I love everything and viva Mexico!!! hahha ;)
con mucho amor,
Hermana Leah Tangedal

yyyyyyyyy mama !!! pappy!!!!!!! nos VAMOS A VER EN SKYPE DOMINGO POR LA NOCHE!!! ahh!!!!!

les amoooooo!!!

MESES DE MILAGROS. I am the Queen of Spanglish now. (April 28,2014)

I JUUUUST NOW, LIKE 5 MINUTES AGO MET SISTER BEHYMERS NEICE!!!!! Sister Szerdi!!!!! It was so funny because i was writing you guys and then all of the sudden my old comp, Hna Cajas passes by with her new comp and was like ahhhhhhh!!! And then Sister Szerdi was like AHHHH!!! And I was like ahhhh???!!! Hahaha, and then they explained and I was like AHHHHHH!!!!    that was so cool and such a pleasure to see them both!!! wow!!!   Well this week has been great! :) Happy life. What a small world!!! Oh, and for those of you who don't understand this .... my mom told me that our friend's niece was called to the same mission and  I was like wooow! cool! I have to meet her.  Then, transfers happened and then I left... and then I just found out that her trainer is my old comp and we just met!!! what a small world. I love it!

Wellll what has happened this week!?   Oh man, well may I just start off with saying that we had to teach the law of chastity like 498573498579837453 times this week? That was great because that was the only thing I was like ehhhh on. like it's just awkward right? Wrong.   "If you have sex, you will die."  ...... mean girls... anyone... anyone??? hahaha OK maybe it's just me. So we had to teach the law of chastity a bunch this week because there are all these people... FAMILIES... who want to get baptized... but they can't because they're not married. uh....so we have been working with them... and then we had planned to teach the law of chastity with Jenifer, I think I have talked about her already, and it was perfect because we got there ad we met her BF hahahah and we taught them both. They're keeping it, but he was sooooooo nervous. It was so funny for us, and then... of course in the MIDDLE OF THE LESSON these two dogs just get in ooooon. and they came and did it right in the middle of our little learning circle. hahahah we were laughing so hard.

OK, and well this week, our numbers were tight this week, but we didn't reach our goals... which were really high.... ha ha but hey it makes us work harder!!!  We focused on reallllllly really helping the people and we feel really good about it. We finally had a family come to church this Sunday and they are so happy. They really enjoyed it and the little girls were asking us if they could get baptized. um :D yaye!!   Yeah it was a really great week.

Ha ha, OK so there is this mountain and the other Friday we were joking and telling people that we are going to that house over there (this white house on the farthest mountain at the veerrrry top) and they like ah!!!! and were like yeah! and they're like OK who lives there then!? and were like uhhhh familia....Cushcagua! and they're like NO!! Fam Perugachi!! and we're like OK yeah we're kidding.... but guess what... one day I contacted a lady on the bus and she was a little interested, but not really, and then ran away from me. haha and then this week, we found her again and she was like," hey I read the folleto!! (pamphlet)" come visit me, I want to know more!!! and she gave us her directions and we went... and guess what HER HOUSE WAS THAT HOUSE!!!!! AND WE WENT!!! hahaha and she wasn't even there!!! Ha ha, but we went and her cuñadas were there,  her sisters in law, and they were so happy to hear the message, and they were like, yes!!! I'm coming to church and yes if I get an answer, I'm getting baptized!! :D That was sooo cool, unfortunately, she couldn't come this week, but next Sunday she is totes coming :D We're going to help her wash clothes so that she can come :)

We went down to our other investigator who we THOUGHT lived far, before we met this family, and that was great, but, then it started raining... in La Rinconada. and this place is way up in the mountains and we walk there. Up and down... hahaha and omg. it was raining so hard that the street was like a mini river and the lightnig was just craayyyyy and so may other things. My shoes are dun! In the trash!  They lived a better life, but we made it through.  It was really cool because, although some people would think oh my gosh this is so dangerous,  I'm going to die, I felt really close to God, because it was like... yeah I know you're doing this weather, but I know that you're protecting me and so I just felt really awesome :)ç
OMG!  So this week, we have a less active family and the husband is,... dgkdlfghdfhgdjkgd   well this week.... something happened... maybe our fast for him to LEAVE. nah.     but yeah he all of the sudden is repenting and coming back to church ad wut?... we're soooo confused, but so we have a Noche de Hogar  (Family Home Evening) with them tonight. we did a service at their house this week and it consisted of moving tree trunks again. Well, we did it, but it was raining and there was so much mud and  the pig wouldn't leave me alone. hahaha it was a great experience :) Oh, and they explained to us about the "castigo indigeno" (The indigenist punishment). basically if someone does something wrong, the whole community goes and jumps the person who did the wrong... and something wrong is PDA; I think they reallllllly hate PDA here. hahaha way more than we do in the states, lolo.

This week we were rejected not as much as last week, but more than the first few weeks, but we felt strong and happy and ready to work and help the Lord in His obra. Every time that I study the scriptures, I learn such cool and new things and it's like duuuuh Leah. wow. I know that if we gain a testimony of the basic doctrines, everything else will start to click <.) I give testimony. life is amazing and I hope that you are all great!!! We still don't have a cell phone which makes things hard, but life goes on. Transfers are next week and I hope we don't have them... I pray we don't!!! :O But it's all the Lords will, he knows what's up :)   Anyways, its a great life and seriously. if you haven't prayed to God to ask Him if these things that crazy ole Leah Tangedal is sharing are true, do it! He will tell you. You will feel His spirit, its a promise!!!

Love you all and send me some love. and by love I mean pictures of you. happy pictures because they make me laugh. dress up like Miranda sings or something. hahaha

Love
Hermana  Tangedal
Me, Hna Irepan my comp, and Hna Moran :D at your service!
