It's official. I'm psychic!! (March 16th, 2015)

Well, OK I'm not psychic, BUT the Holy Spirit is revealing the future to me, Ha ha.  I was like telling Hermana Szerdi (old comp)" it would be so funny if we were comps for the last part of my mission! You'd kill me! Ha ha"   Three days later..... president calls at 6;40 AM.   "Hermana Tangedal... I have some news for you. Hermana Szerdi's companion got reaaaaallly sick and had to go home. I need you guys to be in a trio for the next three weeks and work in Santa Anita and San Carlos."

....cricket cricket...

"....ok president......"

Annnnndd, so now, we are back to San Carlos and Santa Anita!!!   But it was really cool. That night before president called, I prayed to the Lord that He could help me love Him more than anything.  Then, that call happened, and so many more things. Like He is truly helping me sooooo much!!! I have a gnarly cold that everyone has right now, but Heavenly Father is helping me have more patience with myself.  I was a little bummed about the news because we have been finding a lot of people in Santa Anita, but it's OK. Now that I have done it one before, I know how to do it efficiently now :) Annndddd  I think that He is like letting the sector grow, and then, cutting it back, and then it grow more, and then He cuts it back again. MAN. This next cambio when Hna Relmuan and her new companion are there, there is going to be a LOT of success!!! This sector is growing like a bush that gets cut back to let grow fruits! :)  im happy about it!

Douglas. His fecha fell because he hasnt got married yet,m but he is working on it. His wife doesnt want to get married because now she thinks he just wants to get married because he wants to get baptized. but its not true. now he understands the law of chastity and wants to keep the commandments! :D  He is the best. really. he always says how gratefuyl he is that we found him, he told us that he has felt peace now, before.... he had plans to take his life because he didnt know how to get out of all the problems that hes in. but man. wow. i dont care how many baptisms i get. as long as i can help at least one person come to the gospel...that is enough.  :)   everytime that i think about his situation, and how we found him and how happy he is now and how he has totally changed... i just feel so happy that i start to tear up. :)   I am happy.

That Gospel is true.

This week was all over the place! Tuesday, we had divisions. Wednesday, we had to go to the terminal to pick up a sister. Thursday, we had our new cambios and are in trio now. Friday, we had divisions. Saturday...I don't even know. Sunday... 6 hours of church and me super sick, that I was falling asleep in the ... well in my defense...the 6th hour of church. Ha ha ha oh yeah.----   I contacted some Cuban guy that that was a mistake, but at least I get compliments. Ha ha ha, he sends messages telling me that my eyes are beautiful. Ha ha, and inviting us to parties. We have to explain to him that we are missionaries......  -_-     ha ha ha, but what's new right?

Small world.  My friend who is serving in Guayaquil, is companions with my other friend's brother.  My friend who is serving in CO springs is in the same district with an elder from my MTC district. So cray, and to top it off, I met my twin. Hermana Ettinger. Ha ha ha, we are the SAME PERSON.

I know that the Lord is helping me love Him more than anything. That's all I want, because if we love God more than anything, we will love everyone else :)   Really cool story.-   I wrote a letter to a member back in October... but the sisters didn't give the member the card . I was in there house in January and I was like, what the heck! So, I gave it to someone else to give it to her. She just e*mailed me and told me that she was so surprised.  Her husband just had a gnarly surgery and she has been passing through some HARD trials... and in the middle of all this when she didn't know how she was going to keep going forward.... MY CARD GOT TO HER!!! Three months late.... but at the perfect time... and the card was all about finding the strength to move forward. Just in time.

Wow, she was so grateful. She said that if it weren't for my card... she would have just stopped right there. It made me cry out of happiness. I know that the Lord knows exactly what He is doing :)

I know the Gospel, the Church... is true. It really is. I am so happy to be a part of it and I want to love God more than anything, so I can just talk to anyone and not fear anything. Just invite everyone to come. I am the happiest that I have ever been...and it is because of this gospel. :) I love life. I love Heavenly Father.

Love,
Hermana Leah Tangedal

keep on moving forward!!!

When embarrassing things happen on the metro. (March 9, 2015)

God is seriously so awesome!!!! Wonderful stories from this week...

Monday, we had a noche de hogar  (family home evening) with Jaqueline and her neighbors. It was awesome. I love having Family Home Evenings with them! We talked about keeping the commandments and the Spirit was really strong. They are a beautiful family. The next morning, we visited her and her sons... and they all accepted a baptismal date for the 28th of march!!! we are sooooo excited! Hna Relmuan and I are so happy for them. They couldn't come to church this Sunday, so their fecha fell, but we are putting a new one for April, 4th. It is just so amazing to see how we change and want to be closer to God :) It's a beautiful feeling being able to help our brothers and sisters.

Also....we had an appointment with Dennisse, a recent convert who hasn't been coming to church, and every time that we go over is the same thing. The machete of love and they say they are going to come, but they don't come. This time, we went over and decided to finally find her dad... aka it was like 8:15 p.m. because comes home late from work, and we testified about the blessings of coming to church and keeping the Sabbath day holy. Also, about tithes. We had a member accompanying us and she gave a bomb testimony :) It was awesome! We were so happy to have finally found the dad! :D Ya ye!!! We visited him again in the week with another member... and promised a lot of blessings... and GUESS WHO CAME TO CHURCH FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME WITH HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTER!!?? Patricio!!!! Dennise's dad... Dennisse came too!!! Ahhh, we were so happy!!!!

Then... Thursday, lol, we had an appointment with a guy named Alex, but every time we called, he said that we had  the wrong number. bummer. but as we were in the church, we met a members cousin who's name is Alex! ha ha, and my comp was like, hey!!! We are looking for an Alex! Can we teach you!? And he was like, yeah!!  So, we taught him, and turns out that he is inactive and wants to come back, and wow... it was amazing. My companion shared a scripture and we all cried. The spirit was sooo strong during the lesson!!!! :D He was so happy to have come to the Church with his cousin that night. He said that we are the only missionaries in over 8 years that have gotten to his heart, that meant a lot!!! :D He is starting to come back to church!

Then...we found a family who is really interested. The husband more than anything. It's so cool because he got really excited about the book of Mormon!! Their names are Jaime and Maria. We asked them if there was something that they wanted us to pray for, and Maria said, that Jaime proposes marriage. awwwwww!  They want to get married!!! I guess this last transfer, we are going to get all of Santa Anita married!!! Ha ha. because we also found 2 other couples who are interested and getting ready to be married!  It was so cool because when we met them, it totally felt like we were already friends! Ya ye for pre-mortal life friends!! Ha ha.

And the best part of the whole week!

We have been trying to find Douglas all week, but this week was killer at work and we didn't see him :( so we fasted Saturday to Sunday!! None of the people that we fasted for came to church.... BUT the most important person came to church! DOUGLAS! After trying to get to him all this week, we couldn't, and called and invited him to church, but nothing.... but he showed up! Ya ye!!! IT WAS THE BEST! We talked about the law of chastity after church and told him that he has to get married. Right before, we were talking about his problems and how he feels sad and stressed, but then we started to talk about his wife and he started to smile. I just felt so happy! :) I know that I promised him that I was going to teach him the gospel in the pre-mortal life!!!! Then, we talked about a plan to get the money to get them married and we said that he could cook lunches and everyone could buy from him. So, we proposed it in ward council and guess what? Coincidentally, they need a bunch of food this Saturday for an activity and they want Douglas to cook it!!!! Wow. The Lord is amazing.  annnddd we were hungry after the fast right... and our lunch appointment feel through..but the night before, some members gave us two hot dogs in a bag and these 2 hot dogs turned out to be like 5 hot dogs and chips and everything!! It was like when Jesus blessed the bread and it multiplied!!! It was so cool. I just felt so happy. At church, we were able to get the Elders to give 2 blessings of health and the sisters who received them immediately felt better afterwards! :D Ahhhh.

The Spirit has been so strong this week. and other cool things... but too much to write. ha ha :)

I KNOW without a doubt that this is the church that Jesus Christ set up when He was here and HE HAS RESTORED IT!!! It just makes so much sense :) I'm so happy to be a missionary. My companion is so much fun, she makes me laugh all the time. Its so fun because she is direct and just teaches how it is, and the Spirit is so strong when we teaches! I know that the Spirit would not be so strong if we were telling lies. The Gospel is true and the temples are the houses of the Lord here o the earth.  I'm so happy for general conference! I can't wait to hear what the Prophet says, but I just pray that he announces a temple in Quito, Ecuador!!!! :D

I love life!!! And I have come to love life through the Gospel. So if you want to love life,  its through Jesus and HIS gospel :)

Love ,:)

Being a missionary is awesome. with or without plaques! (March 2, 2015)

Queridos amigos!!

Dear friends!! Well, this month of February, the mission is doing something called, the Faith of February brings the Miracles of March, Where we each make a personal sacrifice. I believe that if we want to see miracles, we need to sacrifice something that will be a little hard, so we can show the Lord that we DO want to see miracles. Where there is sacrifice, there are blessings.And...one of my personal sacrifices  is to not read friends emails...nor write you guys until this personal sacrifice ends. Just through this weekly mass email. If you want, you can keep writing me so i have something fun to read in April... At the end of the sacrifice, I'm stoked to respond to you guys, but until then, this will be our means of communication. :) Thank you and I love you!

=================================================================

This week I got a new daughter. Her name is Hna Relmuán. She is from Rio Negro, Argentina. Shes pretty cool! It's so fun because she is so excited to work and talks to everybody! It's nice to have a companion that is really outgoing! :D It's been fun. So Douglas, is preparing to be baptized the 14 of March... but... he needs to get married first. Yeah ha ha, he and his "wife" are not married, but they have been together for 11 years ... so I don't think it'll be that hard to get married! :)

We also received a referral from a member . Jacqueline. She is awesome! She came to church yesterday and it was awesome. I think she felt a little overwhelmed because her kids were running all over the place, but she really liked it and she wants to keep coming. We have a cita (an appointment) with her tonight. So excited!

Gabriela. She just came to church this week and told us that she wants to get baptized. She was hearing the elders before, and now she wants to get baptized because she couldnt before. awesome I soooo hope that we are able to teach her. It sounds like her schedule is crazyyyy.

Another guy, Hernan, came to church, he actually lives really far away, but he came to church over in our ward because... I think ...well I don't know ha ha, and we just saw him like 3 hours ago again!!  We were like just walking in some random place on accident. Cool right!? We're not even in our sector! We are in San Carlos! Ha ha ha, and we invited his wife to church! So cool, because he was like hey invite my wife to church! I just did but she said that she has to think about it.

We just keep having cool moments all the time!
Yesterday, our plans fell through and we said a prayer and said... lets go talk to those chicas in that house, and we did. The mom was like... I don't know, I just feel like I'm missing a happiness inside. and then we explained that we had the message. Ha ha, it's just so cool! It's really a huge joy being able to share this gospel with everyone ! :D

I love it so much. I have just been having so many things be cleared up in my mind this week. I had a gnarl conversation with the mission president's wife. It was awesome. The gospel is really true. I'm excited to live the gospel more fully in my life. I know that we receive blessings if we are obedient and faithful!! It's so beautiful! :D

I hope that all of you are inviting people to church and that you are reading your scriptures daily and praying. I know that our Heavenly Father is listening and waiting to bless us. He is there. I know so! I have no doubts!:D I know that He restored His church! It's so beautiful! :D

Here is a talk that I love and it really has made me so happy! :D I hope you like it too! :D
}
Love you all and have a great week!:D

Wow. I cannot believe how fast time has flown.

Today is the start of my last cambio (transfer), and all my friends from my group and best friends leave tomorrow (because I was only in the MTC for 2 weeks)!! Ahhh crazy! I'm just so grateful that I have had this time to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ, and to be able to do it at THIS time and HERE in Quito, Ecuador, and with THESE people. I would not prefer it any other way :)

We're having cambios... :o bummmmerrrr. My beloved daughter, Hna Colque, has to go back to Bolivia, so that her recently operated nose, can recover. I forgot what she had, but it needs to get better and the weather here and the physical demands are a little too much for the recovery process. It was a lot of fun getting to train her! I will miss her, but I know that the Lord has a better plan for her :)

My new companion is... dun dun dun duuuunn! hemana _______.   I don't know yet, ha ha I'm training a new hermana again. Ya ye! I'm excited! I just really hope she wants to be obedient and diligent like Hna Colque! I know the Lord has a great plan for me these last 6 weeks. He's doing everything that He can so I can finish on a high note. But mannn. I don't know if it is just me or what, but I am so tired. But I'm stoked to give it my all! :D My new daughter doesn't even know what's coming! ha ha ha.

This week. lol. lawl. was actually... well, tougher than last week. Ha ha ha,but there were miracles!!! PEOPLE KEPT CONTACTING US! Ha ha  it's the best!! Yesterday, we were walking to lunch after ward council and this guy carrying a box of empty beer bottles is like, "hermanas!! where is the church and at what time do you attend?" And we were like, "....muuuhhh... umm...wait what?" And told him where it was and turns out he is an inactive active member from Guayaquil and he hasn't gone to church in like 8 years and wants to come back! :D Ya ye! That was super cool! His name is Paulo.

Before that, we were walking to church and we heard, "pssst pssss psttt!! hermanas!" and we turn, and it was Maria, an old investigator that was so pumped to learn about the Gospel , but then she disappeared and we never saw her again. She told us that she was living in Calderon (another city/my first sector), and that she desperately needs the missionaries and was hoping to find us! Some guys tried to violate her daughter and the dad came to rescue the day and stabbed one guy and then went to jail. Scary, right? Welcome. But we have angels that protect us. Seriously. :)    Soooooo we're sending the Elders over ASAP! :D

Then, well Thusday, at the new missionary verification meeting, is when we found out about Hna Colque's nose thing.. sooo it was a very sad day for her, and too many emotions for me to handle. I was sooooo tired. I know that God loves me so much. Like seriously, He is doing everything that He can so I can be OK! Thursday night, we got a phone call from the Hna leaders, letting us know that we were doing divisions Friday. That was going to be really good, and to my surprise, I went with Hna Espinoza, a good friend from my group! Ya ye! and....we were going to the offices because she had her final interview and I was going to be able to see almost all the sisters that are leaving. Wow. a rest/break and HAPPINESS. It was so nice to talk with Hna Espinoza about cool things that we have learned on the mission and miracles that we have seen, also about sooo many other amazing things!  :) It was great! It was exactly exactly exactly what I needed to pump myself up again. Also, seeing my girls at the offices! :) I have no doubt that Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to be as happy as I can be :)

Saturday, the elders had a baptism! Ya ye! and we invited Maribel, and investigator, but she told us that she couldn't come because she was too far away, which was a bummer, buuutttt Hna Colque was like, lets call Douglas!!!  We called him and he was like "yeah for sure ill go! ". Ahh he's so great! He is preparing for his baptismal date the 14 of March :D I'm so excited! he even came to church!  And sooo, after the baptism, we asked him how he felt and he said, the same that he always feels when he is here in the church. Something different. A peace and tranquility that he just wants. Ahhhh! so happy!! :D  He had a great time and the ward is doing a great job at fellowshipping him! :D

This is basically a journal entry, sorry. Ha ha, but I know that this week is going to be crazy awesome! :D I'm so stoked. I know that it's going to be the week that we have been waiting for! :D .. I pray that its the week that we've, I've been waiting for.. ha ha.   I still can't believe that all my friends are finishing tomorrow, except like 6! I'm just so stunned at how fast time flies by. I'll be praying for them all :) I know that the Lord has a BEAUTIFUL plan lay out for each and every one of them! :D And for meeeeeee. and for you guys too! :D

God seriously loves us so much!  :)  Sorry, for just making you read my journal, but I hope you were able to enjoy at least one little part of it :) Please pray for me and Hna Colque and my new comp too! :) We need all the prayers we can get! :D

Love you guys and I hope you have a great week! Till next Monday!

Here are some fotos....

Douglas!! in the blue on the left, at the baptism! :D

Hna Moran and I! Ahhhh I'm going to miss her!! my favorite Guatemalan!!

Hna Irepan, Hna Espinoza, Hna Stephensen, and I coming back from the offices, that glorious day that renewed my cheer and energy! :) The best part was, it was all a surprise, perfectly planned out.

GOD LOVES US SO MUCH! :D be good and read the scriptures! there's power in the scriptures and in prayer! :D Sooooooo much power!

Jesus is the man. He really is. :) I love Him!! (February 16, 2015)

We are in carnival and  wish so much that I could play, but we cant! So I hope you guys are playing for me (those of you who know what carnaval is). So, since these days are carnival, there is no one here and the people who are here are throwing water at us.  But I'm convinced that our angels are protecting us because the water balloons have been coming straight for us and then all of the sudden, they like curve and miss us. ha ha, and the buckets of water too. Like coming right for us and nothing! ha ha and one of the Elders, someone threw an egg and it hit him, then fell on the floor and broke. we're protected I tell ya!! ha ha, but I don't want to speak too soon..... because the people outside of this cyber are playing too.. ha ha  oh yeah and so we have been only allowed to go to set appointments and if not, we have to go to the house and study. But we've had appointments so that's been cool :)

To be honest, it was a really tough week. Ha Monday, we had an appointment with Gladys and Santiago, our evangelical couple, but Gladys' sister was there and she's just... a whole different story. We went with a member couple who are awesome and have gnarl testimonies, but Gladys' sister was just making it impossible for us to teach anything. It wasn't even the spirit of contention, rather the spirit of immaturity. We realized that she is definitely just following whatever her pastor says because  ... ahhh. I'd rather not remember that appointment, but we kept our calm and remained humble. I could see that Gladys and Santiago were a little embarrassed by the comportamiento, behavior, of the sister.   So that made us want to cry, but we shall prevail.

Tuesday, we found a less active member and found out that she went less active because her dad was impossible, and everyone was telling us about how mean her dad was... but the funny thing is that we found her.... by teaching her dad. ha ha and we are always saying that Nestor, is like our mission grandpa. He is so sweet and deff has a special place in our hearts :) ha ha, so everyone is like wow... so we are going to rock this family! :)   Then we went with Carolina, but she was busy and found out that her family.... are other investigators that we had found last week!! ha ha so we taught them, but it was tough. The mom... just doesn't understand. like it just doesn't enter into her head.. that was hard because you just love the people so much and try to explain everything so simply, but they still don't get it. I know the Lord will help though... and the rest of our citas (appointments) kinda fell through. bumm,.

Wednesdayyyyy. Uuufffff. We had members accompany us all day and every appointment fell through and all the people that we found... had no time.. or "had no time". :( and then at night, we went with a less active who is wanting to come back to church and she came too late, right when we were leaving, but begged us to share something . so duh we shared something. How were we going to just leave them? But they talked forever and didn't let us go... and then we didn't make it to a really important appointment with the Elders and Gladys and Santiago. Then, the Elders reprimanded us / corrected us and that was the hardest part... we try to make someone happy and then bail on someone else, just trying to be good. So that was a really hard night.

Thursday... uuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhffffffff. Equally hard if not harder. We had our zone meeting and ya ye it was about charity, one of my favorite things, but Hna Colque and I were still bummed about the night so it was me. Then we (thinking that we had told the mamita that we were going to come late) went to our mamita for lunch and then she chewed us out about coming late because she had a medical appointment and everything else and we just felt like horrible because we thought that we had told her. Ahhhhhhh. I wanted to leave crying! We were so tired. Sorry people. We try to help you and then hfhgkjfsd. We were proud though. All this correction is for our good :) Then, we went to an appointment with the recent converts daughter and husband and we taught the lesson and then at the end... they left us. They couldn't do it at the beginning so we didn't have to sprint down the mountain to our next appointment? :O and then I made the little boy cry because I forgot to let him do the closing prayer. And it wasn't just cry. it was like screaming crying.,so we were like..... "We're not fans of today, or yesterday". Not that I'm complaining. just... it was hard. BUT this is where the light came into our lives!!!!!!   DOUGLAS!!! we had an appointment with him at the church and he was there early and everything. The elders started giving him a tour of the capilla (chapel) and he was making all kinds of amazing questions and telling us that he didn't know how to explain how he felt in the church, but he felt sooooo great. Like his heart was filling up with joy... so we explained that it was the Spirit :) Then invited him to pray about the church and he told us that he already did!:D Ahhhh and he said that he had felt that way when he prayed about the church! Ahhhhh, so we left sooooo happy after feeling so down. It was BEAUTIFUL!  :D

The finally, Friday was a WONDERFUL day. Finally. Ha ha, we were like.. ahh! We had an appointment at the church in the morning, but they didn't come, so we studied and then when we were coming out of the church, we found Denise and her mom (recent convert and her mom who is coming back to the church) and they were like all frantic and told us that the uncle who is schizophrenic, and all kinds of mentally handicapped, and elderly, escaped from the house and they were looking for him. We were like... have you guys said a prayer yet? And they said NO!! Ahhh, so we said a prayer with them and told them that we were going to find him and they shouldn't worry. So we set off to cancel the mamita and she had forgotten about us anyways. Ha ha perfect. So we just said .. OK the Spirit will guide us! :D  then, we just went walking for about an hour and took some turns, asked some people, no one knew anything. So, we got to the occidental, which is like the highway and thought.. well. I don't think he would have crossed this street..... so we stayed there for a moment and my companion was just looking across the street at some man sitting down... and was like I think that's him. And then, we screamed because... IT WAS HIM!! We found him!! It was literally like playing where's Waldo!!!! Ahhhh, and so we said a quick prayer of gratitude and crossed the street and took him back to the house and the mom... Ahh, this lady.. just saw us come in with him and was like with the face of... "oh no. ya ye, but, these missionaries really do what they say they are going to do, and I never put my part".... and after we taught something and we were really direct about keeping the commandments, because she hasn't been doing it, even though we tell her over and over.. :(   and we felt a lot better after that! :D

Then after that, we went to just see how Beatriz was doing and we asked about the BOM and she was like... Ahhh!! I can't stop reading it! I have read 13 chapters last night!! :D I just feel so good when I read it!!! And she was like teaching US about what happened in the chapters that she read. It was marvelous! We just felt the Spirit so strongly! :D Soo happy!   Thennnn, we went to see how Emma was doing and she was with her brother who looked all serious, and well, what the heck presented ourselves to him an he was actually like super interested. He was so bummed that he is never home to receive the lessons, but he was so excited about the BOM and asking for chapters for his wife and everything! Ahh, it was sooo nice  :)   Andnnndndndnadnadnd the biggest part! They realized that they can close the store Sundays so that she can come to church! Ahhh!!!   I just really hope he progresses with us.  :)  Saturday was just a day of service because our citas (appointments) fell through and its carnaval , but we found members who needed our help, so we helped! :D

Sunday. church was cool, but I think the week got to me when a member was like why didn't you guys come Friday!!??  We had missed an appointment and they were ACTUALLY there for the first time and this time we didn't go. So I had a small breakdown, but my comp is so great and the elders also made me laugh so that was cool, but we had to go home after church and just study, so we did so and just talked and we both felt so much better :) It was great.

Now, today, we just decided..since we're in Carnaval and have to be careful, to have a chill day. So we watched the testaments ... and I think that was the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. We were bawling at the end. With Jesus comes it was like.. rivers of tears!!    Man.  Even though we had a really tough week for various reasons...     it was a really good week in a way. I have nothing to complain about. I'm soooooo so so so grateful for Jesus Christ who has suffered for all the things of the world. Who has given me happiness and filled my heart with joy. I can't really explain my feelings, but I KNOW that He has come to the earth and that He WILL come again and all eye shall see Him :)   I'm so grateful that Heavenly Father answers prayers and I'm so happy that I know that we are God' s children and He loves us. Life is beautiful and I'd rather be faithful to the Lord than to anyone else. I know that He lives. I know that this is His church. I have no doubts. Now it's just my part to be as strong as I can be.

Love you guys!

Mass E-mail With a Special Note (February 9th,2015)

Queridos amigos!!

Dear friends!! Well, this month of February, the mission is doing something called, the Faith of February brings the Miracles of March, Where we each make a personal sacrifice. I believe that if we want to see miracles, we need to sacrifice something that will be a little hard, so we can show the Lord that we DO want to see miracles. Where there is sacrifice, there are blessings. And...one of my personal sacrifices  is to not read my friends emails...nor write you guys until this personal sacrifice ends. Just through this weekly mass email. If you want, you can keep writing me so i have something to read in April... or until this sacrifice ends. At the end of the sacrifice, I'm stoked to respond to you guys, but until then, this will be our means of communication. :) Thank you and I love you!

Well, this week has been really cool!! (when have we not had a cool week in the Lord's work?) We have found a lot more new people to teach! We have been going to our appointments, but something happens and the people aren't there, so we say a prayer and talk to the first person we see and turns out that person is much more interested than the person that we were originally visiting! :) Douglas, for example, is one of those people! We had an appointment with a guy named Victor who is from Guayaquil and apparently received all the lessons and was stoked to get baptized, but he moved to Quito and didn't get baptized, and now we found him and are going to teach him. We were walking to his house when we realized... we didn't know where he lived. ha ha So we just went to where he told us and walked down some stairs and started asking his neighbors. By doing so, we found a new family, Victor's house, (but he wasn't home) , and his neighbor Douglas!! Victor wasn't home, so we said a prayer and Douglas... came out of like the bushes or something ha ha and we asked him and started talking to him and turns out he just moved here from Guayaquil too. He's been having a really hard time with some tough tests in his life and has been looking to go to a church. He even cried to us and said that he was so happy and grateful!!  Wut? We are all so excited to teach him :)

We also found Beatriz! We needed to make a phone call and went to her phones. As I made some calls, Hermana Colque contacted her and turns out she's very interested too :) ya ye! We have had a fun time teaching her and having the members that don't usually accompany us, accompany us with her :) It's great because the members also get strengthened :) AND, she gave us a referral of a family from Esmeraldas (the coast) and they're awesome! Super interested too! We just have been praying with a lot of faith and knowing that we are going to find prepared people and we are finding them :)

The recent converts of this sector, familia Aguayo, had stopped coming to church because of all these problems that started happening. The sister said that she thought it was because she joined the church, but soon realized that leaving the church was the dumbest decision. ha ha I loved it. And so now they're receiving us and really excited to come back! :D We had a wonderful lesson with them yesterday and they presented us to some family. They are also new investigators, but they're a little.... well youth, so it's a little tough, but we're working with them :)

And lastly, Carolina. We needed copies of some paper and we went to a member who usually does us the favor, but her copy machine broke...so we were forced to find another one. ha ha so we started walking and found one. We made like 30 copies... just sitting there waiting. not talking to the girl making the copies because she seemed a little serious and her back was to us, but then she gave us the copies and we presented ourselves. She still seemed a little serious and uninterested, but we told her that we would love to come back! and she was like .. yeah OK. whatever.  Then before leaving we were like "wait, one last question,. if Jesus was in front of you and you could ask any question, what would you ask!?" and then she was like.... hmm.. about.. anything? And we were like yeah! And she looked down and then started crying and told us that her daughter just passed away and she wants to know why and if she will see her again. Then duh, we all started to tear up and told her about the plan of salvation and she got really happy. :) We left her with a prayer and she genuinely thanked us. That was awesome. We are going to see her tomorrow.

Needless to say, we have been having cool experiences all up and down this sector. ha ha and like last Monday. after writing, my companion forgot her camera in the cyber. right after she was saying "whatta bummer that that sister lost her camera. I hope it never happens to me". well she realized she left it... and if you know what its like to leave something in this sector of Quito, you know that it was gone forever. But I told her that it was going to be fine. we said a prayer and went back and it was... gone. but there was a youth sitting at a different computer and gave us the camera!   Wut? there are still some honest people out thurr!!! :D

I love working in the mission field. There are so many miracles. Its hard sometimes because you feel like you give it your all for some people to salir adelante (to move forward) and then you just don't see a lot of progress sometimes. Although, I know that the progress that we don't immediately see are seeds being planted and someone else is going to harvest them :) The field is white and ready to be harvested! The Lord doesn't lie. If he says that there are people prepared, there are people prepared! :) I know that the church is true. People and the members are very imperfect, but the organization is God's :)  I love life! :)  It's such a joyful feeling when you meet people that need help and you have what will help them! :) The Gospel! :)

Love you guys! have a great week! And thank you for all your love and support!

The Lord Answers Prayers! (February 2, 2015)

So I heard that the Superbowl was hot. It came down to the LA Dodgers and the Miami Heat. Good job Shaq on that ace!!!! ha ha ha I think I'm crazy today ha ha, sorry I was just laughing my booty off and now I'm feeling crazy. Thank you to all the funny people in my life. you do a good job keeping me young.
This week was cool! :) Although, I felt like a bishop and a policewoman! Bishop because people feel lots of confidence when they talk to us and tell us lots of things, but we have the gospel that will help! So ya ye!  like we met this girl, Shaniquah (name changed to protect identity) and I was going to write the story, but its too much. Basically I feel like its the craziest narco Colombian Mexican novela in the history of anything. But man, I was soooo lost. People had to marry people or someone would kill someone, the mom is crazy and I'm pretty sure there's a lot of illegal stuff involved. But we're totally safe. We have at least 2 angels with us :) She came to church and loved it and asked that in the prayer she could come to church and feel this way again because she had never felt so happy :) It was really cool.
OK, but the cool stuff.
So this week, we had an appointment fall through and we had some extra time before our next one, so we said a prayer in front of this, what appeared to be empty house, and asked where we needed to go. We felt like we should contact the empty house, so we did and Pamela, 22, and a less active member that was visiting her, received us very warmly and listened to the Restoration and accepted a baptismal date and was so excited and told us that she felt really good hearing the message. Like a peace. Then (earlier this day I had prayed that the people would be able to see the light and peace that we radiate) after that, she was like wow...you guys just radiate light and peace. I don't know, something in your eyes!... Specific prayer answered specifically?? I think so! :D
Last night, I prayed that the Lord would wake me up on time because I was dead tired and probably wouldn't hear the alarm. Well, I didn't, but at 6:30 am, someone knocked on our bedroom door and woke me up. Nobody else lives with us.- I'm convinced it was an angel! :D and I woke up so happy and rested!
Oh, question. Does this happen to anyone else? I will be sleeping and then all of the sudden I just open my eyes in the middle of the night and I'm in like suuuuper deep thought and like tired from thinking so much. I don't know how to explain it. but its weird. It also happens to my comp every night.
The pastor's assistant that we had been teaching, Galo, left us. He prefers to believe the Internet  rather than us. So, to him, we are no longer brothers, and the Mormons believe that Jesus had 3 wives and bla bla bla. ay ay ay. Thank you Internet and people who put dumb things like that on there,  but that's OK. We tried to tell him that that is not at all what we believe, but he thinks the Internet knows more than what we believe. :( sad.  but after that lesson, we went with Nestor, another new investigator and the spirit was sooooo strong in that lesson. It was so nice :) ya ye! We definitely needed that boost :)  The Lord knows what we need :)
Oh yeah, another appointment fell through and we prayed and started walking and passed a lady. At that moment I felt... contact her, so we turned around and talked to her and her daughter. They are actually really interested!" ya ye!! :D Awesome sauce! :D Their names are Zoyla and Ximena and were stoked to hear about the message! :)
Annnnddddd Gladys and Santiago. An evangelical couple who... just wanted to content with us at first, but I have a testimony and I let them know and the Spirit overpowered them ya ye! And they started to realize that they were doing something wrong contending and they asked us to forgive them, and then were saying, "you know.... you guys could be telling us the truth and we're the ones who are hardening our hearts and not wanting to live in light. maybe we're pushing away the truth to continue to live blindly" . Yeah it was cool at the end. We have another cita (appointment) with them tonight. I'm super stoked!!!

Those are just some cool things that happened this week because we don't have anyone too steady for the moment :( bum, but I know that we'll find them :) I love the mission! I love teaching the truth and I love feeling the spirit. If the book of Mormon was all a lie, it would be the biggest lie ever because millions of people all over the world have been converted by the power of the Holy Spirit, including me, and not one person in almost 200 years has been able to discredit the book of Mormon. I know that it is true. it was written by prophets called of God and came out to the world in this time to confound all false doctrine. It just depends on us if we want o listen and open our hearts and accept that we could be wrong. It brings so much happiness to my life and you are alllllll invited to read it and pray about it and ask God if it's true. He will tell you like He told me. You will feel a happiness that you have never before felt :) and then when you feel it, SHARE IT! :d
Love you guys!!! :D Have a great week! life is amazing.
love

Life is awesome! (January 26th, 2015)

Yo!! This week has been killer! :D We're going all out and its been great! :) We found like 17 new people to teach, just talking to everything that moves and asking for referrals from everyone :) Its been really fun and we've been finding people who want to learn more :)  We are also teaching an evangelical pastor's assistant. yeah. ha ha but its awesome. We read 3 Nefi 11 and the spirit was sooooo strong. He says that the book of Mormon is true..... but he's like, but I can't change because these people helped me when I needed to learn about God... oh man. We're studying to help him MAKE THE CONNECTION. Its a little hard because his wife is really closed off and always looks like she's mad or has gas, but we are being really nice to her too :) ha ha ha It is a lot about the family support for a lot of people. For the love, people, support your loved ones in their desires to make good choices!!

We are also teaching this girl named Emma. She works in a store and is 19 years old. She is really cool and really interested in the Gospel. We actually found her about 2 months ago, but since we weren't over here in Santa Anita, it was hard to see her and she wasn't as interested as she is now! Turns out her aunts are members in another stake and they came to visit and were explaining a lot about the book of Mormon and she got really excited. Also, she has been praying and she told us about how she loves it and she doesn't want to stop. She feels so much happier and she feels like alleviated :) So happy! She came to church AND she is preparing for a baptismal date the 13th of Feb :)    Her fellow shippers live across the street from her and are doing a great job with her. She is going to their family home evening tonight :) I'm so happy! She even gave us the referral of her sister in  law and was really excited because she is also interested :) ya ye! I love the work!

Story about why we have to follow the spirit. Soooooo we were at one of our less actives house, Evelyn, and had a great lesson on repentance. Then we finished and we were just talking about how the spirit is awesome because it protects us and impressions and how it protects us from being robbed too. ha ha, then---- we left and I thought... "hmm taxi!", but my comp was like, nah lets just take the bus, and I was like OK... so we took the bus and we were like 4 blocks away from the house and there were these two guys walking up the hill too, but like a block in front of us, and I just felt, "yup. those are the guys who are going to rob us", then I looked at the time and we had five minutes till nine, and I thought to myself, nah we have 5 minutes of protection!! but walking I just kept feeling it. until we were a block away from the house and a group of people passed us and then the two guys stopped walking and turned around and started coming towards us and I looked one in the eye and didn't feel anything good, without even thinking, I grabbed my companion and said "olvide algo"  (I forgot something) and we turned around and joined the group of people that passed us by and I told them what was happening as the guys were following us and they were kind enough to let us hang with them until the creeps stopped following us. Once we were sure that they were gone, we ran to the house and were safe and sound. I wasn't scared or anything because I know that we had the promptings of the spirit and that I followed it, but my comp was really sad because she said that she felt it too, but was ignoring it and was just trying to think of hymns and good things. I told her that we have to follow the Spirit no matter what. I know that the Spirit of the Lord is with us and that we have to follow it no matter what!!! It will guide us to safety, people to need us, and to places we need to go.

I love the Lord and I know that He wouldn't be blessing me so much if this weren't His church and what He wants for me in this time. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph smith was a prophet. I also had a cool experience when I asked Heavenly father to strengthen my testimony about the prophet Joseph Smith.

I can't deny the answers that God Himself has given me. I love the mission and the decisions that I have made with my life,.

Thank you guys for your continual love and support. I can't believe the time is passing by so fast, but I'm making the best of every minute :)

Love you all!!

Hermana Tangedal

Sorry no pics. I have some fun ones, but the comp doesn't work right,. :(

The gospel spreading through the land, a people to prepare (January 19th, 2015)

Wow guys, what a joy it is to share the gospel. I seriously love it :)  This week we have had some awesome experiences.

First off, I have a daughter!! Ha ha ha that meas I'm training a new missionary. Her name is Hna Colque from Cochabamba, Bolivia. She is 24 and was studying medicine. We get along great and are having a great time re-opening Santa Anita!! :D  Its awesome!

Well, Monday to Wednesday, Hna Mantilla and I were comps while we awaited the arrival of our new companions. We worked in .... get ready... El Eden!!! where I was happily reunited with my old friends!! It was a great experience and I met people that I DEFINITELY FEEL I knew before if you know what I'm saying!! :) It was awesome.  Then I got my daughter Thursday! It was a great experience! :) She's stoked to teach and be an awesome missionary. The president and his wife really made us feel super good in our reunion of trainers :) I definitely feel super happy and excited and capable of training my "daughter" well :) So far, we are off to a great start! and she's stoked to learn English!!

Friday, Hna Colque had to go to a reunion that she missed, so I stayed back in San Carlos (ha ha like I never left!)  with HNA SZERDI!! ya ye!!  It was great! We had a super great time! She's going through some tough stuff, like everyone, so we had a good crying sesh. That was awesome. I love living my baptismal covenants! Mosiah 18 y'all!! :)   We had an incredible experience! soooo we went to this door where we have a future investigator, his name is Juan and he is 12. Well, his friend gave him a BOM and taught him about it. We tried to teach Juan, but he already knew everything. He is half way through reading the book of Mormon and he is reading it every night. He says that he knows it's true and it helps him sleep better every night. Wut! I read the dedication that his 12 year old friend wrote in the book. I seriously teared. It was so beautiful. We asked him what he liked most about his friendship. He said that the family is just different. They have a special spirit and he was always helping his friend. Man, yo. Everyone, please be member missionaries. this 12 year old is amazing and even wants to be a missionary. He's gotta be baptized first, but it was just a testimony to me about how effective just... loving people is and sharing the gospel. Share it with everyone. share it with the people you love. if we don't share the gospel..... I think we are bad friends. its amazing. :)

Experience that brought me a bunch of joy today. Ha ha we didn't know what we wanted to do with our day, so we decided to come to the artisan market in the center of Quito. We got on the trolley and my comp was telling me a story, but I was just completely distracted, the Spirit was telling me "get off!" and I ignored it a few times, but then I remembered how can I be asking for the Spirit and then when I have it, not do what it says?? So, I told my companion and we got off the trolley, we waited and the next one came. I explained what was happening and she understood. Then we came to a stop... and we accidentally got off at the wrong stop, ha ha whoops.- but there is a purpose to everything right? So we got on the next trolley and  then this 25ish year old guy starts offering help because we were a little confused to where we should go. He said that he was going near to where  we were going, so we got off and walked together. Then, he explained where we had to go to, and then said it was a pleasure meeting us and was bummed because he didn't have one of his business cards to leave with us, but we still have some of "He is the gift cards!" So we left him one and told him that whenever he wants to come to church,  to give us a call, and then he was like, "actually yes!! I have heard a lot about your church and I want to know more!!" It was crazy! Then we left... and I just felt the spirit sooooooooo strong, like sooo happy.

Guys, there is a great joy when we follow the spirit. Sometimes, its weird, but just do it :) I am so happy that our Heavenly Father loves us and is helping us along the way. I just feel like my life is falling into place :) happy with it all!

I love you all and I pray for you all the time! Just holla atcha gurl when you need something! :)

The church is true and nothing else matters!!! :D

Love you!
Hna Leah Tangedal
